Apparently noboby.

How are you doing, Sham? I do expect you to be at the Convention in Reno this year. No excuses about work or guys quitting or getting fired accepted.

Just made my reservations...and blocked 25 rooms for the COHORT Chapter. Also, we have a hospitality suite. Maybe P.Net can block next to us and have their suite next door, too.

I guarentee you'll have the time of your life. Hey Rigger, I'll bring the JD Green Lable just for you!!!

Anyone get the PARAGLIDE yet with all the info?

Reno (Like West Va) never took me up on the offer to host a convention page off of the main site and hasnt emailed me with any information that I can post.

I dont get it really... all the pissin and moaning each year about the number of younger troopers who dont attend and yet they neglect the best way to get information and attention.

Im actually getting to the point where I feel like Im spinnin my wheels with internet and the 82nd association.

One last hope might have me asking for some time to have a class available on the Internet and its impact on the 82nd at both national and chapter level and see who shows up.

Big Al is up and in. I'm currently working on the voting by-law change. I sent Barry a rough copy. I should have it finished soon. I'll polish it up and submit it to the "guys" for review.

A copy will go to every chapter chairman and secretary well in advance.

If I can get a National Director to sign off on it it just may have a chance to get approved in time for 2005.

Mark, don't give up brother. We got TIME on our sides. It is our generation of paratroopers who will pick up the torch from the old timers and Lead this Division Association.

I for one look forward to it. Inroads have been already made. A change is on the horizon.

Stay on Renos ass. Send them acopy of last years page and show them what you can do for them. Have some sales pitches ready for the rest of the chapters at the convention.

Make sure you bring your banners again this year. Maybe Blake can bring the Chapter Colors.

Big Al!

Mark,

I have been at a couple of 82nd Abn. Association Conventions where you have tried to speak to the Association leadership about the use of Internet for the benefit of the members and the Association, and observed that you were speaking as to a stone wall.

It is a shame that the Internet is such a scary thing to some.  I am no youngster at 71 years of age, but I know that we need to get away from conducting Association business by mail and telephone to get the young troopers on board.

Mark, thanks for all you do for us!  Don't let up - keep pushing the leadership to step out of the past and into the future.

STAND IN THE DOOR!

PS:  One of these days I will figure out how to get my signature icons to show!

Al....The proposal will be signed  off by the Chapter Commander after reveiw by him and the chapter membership and if thats what the majority of the chapters wants.  Lets hope that it helps that he is also a National Director.

Mark....I get the feeling that they may feel since the Association has a web site , then thats where a page would be for the Convention information.  Information is posted in the Paraglide therefor should be in the Association Web Site.

Now having said that, I know , I can see the looks on your faces

IMO..if a chapter wanted to be successful in hosting a convention, along with it being posted on the assocaition web site and being posted in the paraglide each chapter should have a convention page on the net. Now , in order to have that it may cost some $$$$$ That is where the problem is it getting the host chapter in doing this.  Conventions serve at least 3 purposes, 1. Money maker for the Chapter 2. Money maker for the Association and 3. Getting troops together.

Well if the Chapter wants to make a profit..they have to spend less  and NO chapter host a convention just for the hell of it and lets get together with old and new troops and have a party.

So from that stand point..what can be done to help ?
