Women accuse colonel of proposing marriage to dozens via Internet
Associated Press
FORT BRAGG, N.C. — Army commanders said Wednesday they are investigating allegations that a colonel proposed to dozens of women in the United States and Canada after meeting them through Internet dating services.
Some of the women compiled a list of more than 50 women to whom Col. Kassem Saleh proposed, The New York Times reported Wednesday.
Saleh, 50, is already married, the women say.
They want him punished but it’s not clear that such behavior would violate either criminal law or military regulations.
“The commanders are aware of it, and they are currently investigating the alleged incidents,” Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Fletcher, a spokesman for the XVIII Airborne Corps, told The Associated Press on Wednesday.
Saleh, a 29-year Army veteran, is the primary staff officer for the unit’s civil affairs section, Fletcher said.
He said he didn’t know how long the investigation would take.
Saleh could not be reached for comment; no telephone number is published for him in Fayetteville, N.C.
The Times said most of the women had posted messages on a site that specializes in taller-than-average singles. The women said Saleh claimed in his e-mail messages to be 6-3 or 6-5, but some who have met him say he is 5-9 or 5-10, the Times said.
The claims against Saleh came to light after KNDU-TV in Washington reported on a woman who said she was engaged to Saleh and was awaiting his return from duty in Afghanistan. MSNBC posted the story on its Web site, where it was seen by other alleged fiancees.
The women range in age from 33 to 57. Two are from Canada.
Sarah Calder, 33, of Calais, Maine, said some of the women had received engagement rings and planned weddings. She had shopped for a wedding dress.
Calder said she said she knows it seems absurd that women would agree to marry someone they had only met online and through phone calls, but she said Saleh’s e-mails were charming.
“We are not a group of stupid, naive women,” she said. “We are bright, intellectual, professional women. I can’t tell you how much he wooed us with his words. He made us feel like goddesses, fairy princesses, Cinderellas. We had all found our Superman, our knight in shining armor.”

so, let me get this straight: Now the Army is responsible for reparations to be handed out to every woman who's had her feelings hurt because she was dumb enough to listen to a troop trying to get into her pants? This sets a ridiculous precedent. How many women are gonna be calling for the punishment of some soldier somewhere?
oh, I see: YOU'RE stupid, so WE pay for it. Sounds like the new millenium to me.

I was surfing with my TV remote and I accidently landed on CNN. I only watch Fox News but they had story on CNN about the "Hi Tech Casonova". They had this big ole blonde that only Bill Clinton could love on the program. This gal was so large she made Monica look petite. She was pi$$ed. She said she sent him an expensive package for Christmas. Later he told her to get over him and to let him Go back to being the "Warrior Monk". I'm not lying thats what she said he told her. "Warrior Monk" I'm laughing my a$$ off. My suggestion is that GWB should bring Bill Clinton in to handle the investigation. With "Slick Willie handling the case we would all know what "is" "is" and the col walks. The fat blonde goes to weight watchers and marries a lawyer. The Col could become the next Rick Rockford of "Who wants to marry a Millonaire?"
I don't see the problem. Hey no contact no VD. No worries about herpes, clap or claymadia. Cybersex is really something that cyberpervs can indulge their wildest fantasies without fear of being hit with a paternity suit.
My advice to the alleged ladies if it was a woman jacking with 50 guys everyone would be laughing ( me included) at the guys for thinking with the wrong head. There would be no talk of action just a bunch of people laughing at guys that were that dumb.

From a legal standpoint, if he only talked to these chicks online and all, even if he did send out some glass engagement rings, is it really considered adultery by the UCMJ? That is of course if he is married as one member of his herom alleges.
If there is a charge for attempted adultery, I suppose, but I doubt there is.

quote: “He wrote better than Yeats. He wrote better than Shakespeare. He totally intoxicated you with his feelings: ‘Oh, baby, I want to tell you how much I miss you.’ ‘I can’t wait to get home to you,’ ” Robin Solod, 43, told the Times.
Oh really? Does the above example of his writing strike any of you as an example of exemplerary prose? If the above is a sampling of the average content of his missives to the wannabe missus... then he must of been courting a harem of trailor queens who struggled through 7th grade English...
"The degenerative and loony should never be denigrated but, rather, thanked. In their absence, the rest of you would be obliged to fill congressional seats... positions naturally unsavory to the sane and honorable." Thorax

This topic should be moved to the WANNABE forum as this guy is a friggin poser even though he is on active duty.
He is a full bird and he is telling these gullable women that he is out there fighting it out with the taliban when all he really does is enginerring projects - probably in an A/C trailer. Or he is out on a stake out as a full bird and has to quit talking because the enemy is near by! What a shit.
We ought to start tracking him now because you know once he retires he will pray on people the same way..."back when I was hunting Osama in Afghanistan..."
I guaranteee this joker's name pops up again on this board - but this time someone will be busting him for very TALL warstories!
Let's track him now!
What a poser!
