Just wanted to give this thread a bump to remind people.

Go with God, but make Him walk the point.

If you load a mudfoot down with a lot of gadgets he has to watch somebody a lot more simply equipped - say with a stone axe - will sneak up and bash his head in while he is trying to read a Vernier. - Robert Heinlein

Let me give some personal insight:
A relative of mine. His problems with porno began when he was a teen.
It grew progressively worse. It graduated to dance clubs, web sites,
etc, etc, etc.
Ok, some will say, that ain't so bad but read on.
Appeared to be fine Christian man. Song leader, very Godly appearing.
When his problem came into the open, he was a youth minister. Prior
to it breaking in the open, there were some inappropriate behavior speculation with minors. Even had to leave a job in another state when he worked for a childrens home because of the speculations.

Well, he makes the wrong move on the wrong cousin. We, as a family,
did a family intervention. I was the hired gun/muscle, hidden in the back room, in case he lost it and went out of control. He agreed to help. I became the vehicle driver to get him to a hospital for help.
On the way to Waco, he admitted to the things in the other state.
He was arrested for the felony - at his college campus. Spent a
crap load of money for lawyers and bail. The case was settled for a
lesser offense, the main witness, disappeared. [bogld] [?]
Was listed on the TX web site as sexual offender. Will have to register for the rest of his life as a SO.

His wife is trying to divorce him. He has, this is the hardest part
and the part that just [pissd] me off: His children (my nephews), have finally opened up. No physical abuse that we can tell so far
but emotional abuse - I'd even classify it as emotional torture.
He won't relent and let the chips fall where they may. His true colors have come out and shown us all what a turd he really is. This
has been so hard for all the family to swollow because we don't have
a divroced member in the family and no criminals. So, it has affected us all. Like ripples in a pond. The worse is the wife who
has now become single and with two children who are soon to be teens.
The odds are not good for those boys but there is the power of a
gracious and loving God. So we still have hope.

How did all this come around? By picking up the first porno mag and
not stopping from there. Because of not looking away and gettting
hooked, this man now, has the distinctive title of:

PEDOPHILE.

The experts say, that porno is an chemical addiction. It releases chemicals in the brain, much like eating fine chocolate, once you take a nibble, you got to have more and more, until it consumes you. Once this chemical is released, it's nearly unstoppable.

So, if you all want to help this little family, the mom and her boys
sure could use all the prayers that can be mustered. I can't give
names because it's still being litigated, but God knows.

argentine,
I congradulate you on walking away. One day at a time, brother. Lean
on God, HE will see you through.

Sorry to be so long winded but this is the short version. I just
can't say it enough. Walk away from the porn and porn industry. It
leads to only one thing, a lasting seperation from everything we know
and from the Hope that keeps us all grounded in Him.

Peace and Joy be multiplied in your believing,

"Doc" Sloan

That had to be tough to say, Hooah. I'm sure it has helped some people though.

It really can be addictive and it is progressive.

It can be surprisingly fast too. One day Playboy doesn't do it anymore and the next thing you know, you are looking for www.underagefarmanimals.com . Not making a joke, but that can happen.

I had to check. Thank God that's not a real address.

It's a tough topic to address, yet its destructive power cannot be overlooked, you hear stories about it all the time. Our lives are the sum total of the decisions we've made to this point, but there is hope! Here's the promise we as Godly men can hold on to:

"But God is faithful [to His Word and to His compassionate nature], and He [can be trusted] not to let you be tempted and tried and assayed beyond your ability and strength of resistance and power to endure, but with the temptation He will [always] also provide the way out (the means of escape to a landing place), that you may be capable and strong and powerful to bear up under it patiently." 1 Corinthians 10:13 (Amplified Bible)

We can't change the past, but we can shape our future by making decisions that line up with God's word. It's like quitting smoking (which I did after leaving active duty in 1994): you just don't light up. Along the lines of previous suggestions: if you have magazines, tapes, DVD's, get them out of reach! If it's the Internet, get a filter or get rid of your access! Make it as difficult as possible to get at those items, and be accountable to God - it's sin that separates us from his love and his loving plan for our lives, and when we blow it, we can go to him in sincere prayer for forgiveness, and he is faithful and just to forgive us (1 John 1:9). He wants to forgive us more than we want to be forgiven, and in fact, the work has already been done. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus paid the price for our sin, according to the Bible! No more burnt offerings, alright!

So reach out in faith to
