How many Strykers have burned up?

The reason I ask is, I have seen pics of two distinctly different Strykers that were burned to the ground.  One with the add on 'bird cage' and one without.  Here is a pic of one:

Also, notice the tires on the lowboy trailer it is on.

This is the other different burned up Stryker:

Hi Delta,

From what I have heard, the two pics are of the same vehicle. The cages were removed prior to final transport.

I can understand them taking off the cage for transport.  But it appears to me that the bottom pic of the Stryker without cage is of a Stryker at the site of the incident before it was transported.  It seems to me if this were the same vehicle, that the bottom pic should show the Stryker with the cage as it was hit, and the top would show the Stryker on the lowboy without the cage for transport.  Was the bottom pic taken before final transport or after?

Looks like several were lost in accidents and 1 actually lost. The second vehicle mentioned lost a wheel but was able to carry on. The Stryker seems to be performing quite well and is proving to be ideal for the environment it is operating in.

Dont know if anybody saw Nightline on Friday or Thursday last week. They had a great story on the Stryker unit now in Iraq. After seeing that story I believe it's a more survivable vehicle than I had thought.

However, with that giant birdcage the Stryker cant get thru a lot of narrow streets. I saw Grunts clearing streets without the Strykers. Looked liked the Strykers could'nt go where they were needed. And they showed (and Soldiers mentioned) that the Stryker gets stuck in the mud frequently. From what I saw it's cross country mobility sucks!!! On a hard ball I'm sure it hauls ass. It looks like it needs to slow to about 15-20 mph on any type of undulating ground.

I have heard of dud 2000lb bombs booby trapped by the NVA for us. There is nothing for a big enough bomb.

Hey RAKK, It was a pretty good segment on Nightline, not long enough for me, but it was sure nice to see my son, even though it was taped. We got a call this morning and the web sites have posted that the SBCT will be releaving the 101st up around Mosul. My son said the 101st did a great job up there and they appreciate the facilities already in place. No more sleeping in the strykers for a while and the phones and internet are in place. HOOah!!!

God bless them all.
