Was having lunch wit the Navy rec today, and he mentioned hearing something about a dual MOS program, that the military has. He believs it's called E.C.A.P.(?) If you have a civillian skill set that's condusive with a military MOS, you take a test, and if you pass it, above 95% you get that MOS added to your file, and from there on, you can choose to enlist with that primary MOS, and or train in another completly seperate primary MOS. My question is, does the Army have a similiar program? If so, is it possible to be a An INFANTRYMAN/MEDIC?
This all came about when I mentioned being a former EMT, he asked if my cert was current, I told him no, but could get re certified in 4 to 5 weeks. He asked about enlisting as a corpsman, I told him yea, beat's being a radar or laundry tech. Then he metioned the ECAP.

Never heard of that before but then again... the Navy is a totally differant world from what most of us here have experienced. Army stopped awarding MOS's for OJT'ing 'em over a decade ago so I doubt that it's a cross-service program.

Thanx FDC. I was just thinking if I could hedge my bets so to speak.
By that I mean, the more skills I have, then maybe the higher chance I have of getting in.
What I'm going to do, when I get back from Tokyo, and the gathering, I plan on signing up for the Sydiving Instructor's course, get re-certfied as an EMT, then upgrade that cert to Paramedic. I'm also gonna see if I can get a spot in the Civie Helo school that just opend up around here. Maybe then, with all of those certs, one of these Waiver Officers will reconsider.
Oh, and as far as my second language goes, I mentioned my Farsi to both the Army and Naval Recs, and both of them said, if I do list it, there is an extremely high chance that after OSUT, my butt would get TDY'ed to the ME, and I would most likely be assigned to a unit in which I would need a security clearence. So, I won't be listing that.

CW, a corpsman in the Navy seems to me. Would be great if they will give it to you. You would be more or less in the Marine Corps. My guess would be most squids dont want to pound the ground with the Marines. All Marine medics are Navy corpsman. Go do that. I personally think its a travesty that your being held back. Becuse of prior BS. If the Navy will take you as a medic. Its time for you to step up. After that 3 or 4 yr tour you will be able to do exactly what you want. In any service. Quit trying to get the perfect thing. There is nothing perfect. Take what you can get and drive on.

Way ahead of you Rakk, that's why I was with him yesterday.
Yes, the corpsman job he was talking about would have me out in the field, and that's exactly where my butt wants to be!
