USA today had an article on repeated combat deployments of soldiers. It seems the deployments are 11b intensive, and you can get on the merry-go-round to and from stateside easily. The numbers are more scewed than the percentages indicate. I've included the link.

| Of course these guys go again and again. That's the kind of person who volunteers. Rell Sunn, the late great hawaiian surfer defined Aloha by saying: "You give and you give, and you give until it hurts, and then you give some more." I fault our military leadership as well as our "career" politicians for this situation. 3,4,5 tours? Ridiculous. 1) If you wear the uniform, take your turn. 2) If there aren't enough soldiers to fight our wars, then reinstate the draft.

The Army Times periodically runs these stats. For career officers and NCOs multiple tours are going to be a fact of life. There is no way around that. There are not going to be many one term sodiers with multiple tours.

I mean where the hell have they been hiding for the last eight years??? An E-7 without a combat patch??? Come on!Easy answer. Drill SGT, to Recruiter ,or the opposite, to Instructor at the school house. I saw quite a few when I was around Ft. Jax for BNCOC. I had three deployments before my Chevrons were dry. I got put into a TDA Assignment and argued against it.

I have two nephews in, non Infantry, and both have two combat tours. My other nephew has a single combat tour with a single enlistment in the Missouri National Guard. I can't see how a soldier with a primary MOS of Infantry with a decade of service can hold his head up with no combat deployment in the last 8 year's reality. It just doesn't pass the smell test.
