Veterans Day. The Town AL Post always has a ceremony at the Court House at 1100 hrs. I have been attending the ceremony for years. I am not a member of the AL because my ets date lacks 15 days of qualification. So I go to the Court House. Several Vets are there, but no one from the American Legion shows up. They have a program at the High School each year and they were late getting out. NO CEREMONY TO HONOR THE VETERANS OF OUR TOWN AND COUNTY. I was so f**kin pissed I went to the Legion Bldg but no one there either. So I tonite I call the President of the Post, who happens to be a friend of mine, and tell him what happened. His comment "Well, there is nothing we can do about it now". He wasn't even in town he, was in another town having a Vetern's Day ceremony which had invited a Boy Scout Troop. Un believable!!!!

That is UNSAT/sub-standard on the part of the AL in your home town. Weak.

| Prior planning and all that... has this particular post had scheduling and priority issues in the past of is this something new? My VFW chapter had a rather hectic itinerary today... especially the members of the antique vets rifle squad. Those guys impress me... when I get their age (youngest is a Korean war veteran) I will be happy to be able to lift a rifle let alone do the fifteen count manual of arms.

No, nothing new. They have been having a program at the High School for a long time. Which I think is great. They have a small ceremony and then some of the Vets talk to the students. What happened this year, I have no idea. But the High School program has never interfered with the Ceremony at the Court House in the past. When I "was" a member many years ago (long story). I went to the HS on one occasion with the AL.
