RD, if he was graduating this week I would be there for the ceremony.  Good luck to him.

According to the 1-507th CSM there is no problem with personnel strength as far as Delta goes.  They are currently refurbishing the barracks and have had to shut Delta down completely until that is done.  And I can assure you that they are using both the 34 foot and the 250 foot towers for training.

Now that you mention it, the same thing happened when I went to BAC in early 2004. My friend came 2 weeks after me, which put him in Delta Co. Well, their barracks building was closed for refurb, and they moved their company all the way down the street somewhere. I felt bad, because when we could just walk next door for chow, they had to run all the way there, then run all the way back to get to their barracks. And from what they told me, the condition of them was just about as bad as ours.

I recall one of my soldiers telling me the same thing, once upon a time

The Airborne or BAC barracks are 1950's style barracks with no AC, and little air circulation. BUT when I went through BAC in '68 we had our barracks close to Lawson Field and I think they were made after WWI, and just before WWII, so they were better then living in tents. Massive holes in the walls and floors were common, from many many fights and parties.

The barracks now used for BAC were the OCS barracks and they were constantly being fixed and cleaned up while I was a Black Hat, as I remember when I was in B 1/507 we had moved our B 1/507th barracks lock stock and bunks down to HHC 1/507 th while we were being renovated for about 1 year.

Fort Benning is under MAJOR,MAJOR repair or building process Martin Army Hospital was just allocated $350 Million to Build a new hospital, and just about everything on post is being rebuilt or painted or renovated.

The Armor school is moving here and will take 3 years to build, along with the Infantry Museum moving and building process.

Out of every 100 men, ten shouldn't even be there, Eighty are just targets, Nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back." - Hericletus, circa 500 BC

100% true. Just graduated last Friday and we did utilize the 34 ft tower during ground week for the individual exit last week. Then during tower week we utilized it again for the mass exit technique. All of the barracks for the 1-507 are in the process of getting repaired.. It is going to be a rotation first delta - then charlie- bravo - and alpha.... At least that is what the black hats told us. The barracks do need to be repaired but for the most part they are ok - or maybe I was just too tired to realize.
