| This came up again this year and I wanted to get the word out far and wide. Just like you can visit Washington DC and sit in the gallery in Congress and watch the proceedings, you can do the same in our organization. Many people seem to be under the belief that you cannot be in the Delegates meeting or the National Directors meeting unless you are a delegate or national director... NOT TRUE. Our organization is setup to allow ANY member to attend these meetings. You can sit in on both of them as a regular member in good standing and the only caveat is that you can only review the proceedings, you cannot vote or take the floor unless you are formally recognized. As the webmaster of the national organization I make it a point to attend the meetings regardless of my current officer status because some electronic/computer issues may surface and I can be recognized to provide additional information or clarification. NOTHING would make me happier than if we had to expand the rooms for both these meetings in order to provide seating for concerned members who wish to find out who says what about issues for debate. Rather than hearing the report which typically does not include the full discourse, you can sit in and hear for yourself which committees, directors and executive board members vote or work. So, plan on getting up and hanging out with a cup of coffee in the delegates meeting and National directors meeting. I CHALLENGE you to go and let the leadership see that there are interested members who are keeping an eye on the proceedings. The board is answerable to the membership and the membership should be reminded of that fact at every opportunity.
