“I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the alter of freedom.” Those are the words Abraham Lincoln wrote in a letter to a mother who lost two of her five sons during the Civil War that are now also etched in stone on a permanent monument under the flagpole at Pershing Field on Fort Richardson. The monument honors the 53 paratroopers from the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, killed in action during the brigade’s recent deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. It was dedicated in the presence of paratroopers, families and friends Friday, who gathered to pay tribute to and remember the loss of the Soldiers during a memorial dedication ceremony. http://www.usarak.army.mil/alaskapost/May23Story1.asp
Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American GI. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.
"History teaches that when you become indifferent and lose the will to fight someone who has the will to fight will take over." COLONEL BULL SIMONS
