On December 11, 2007 a former US Army Ranger named Martin Lawing was shot and nearly killed while serivng as a Deputy Sheriff in North Carolina. He is making a slow and painful recovery. He has been nominated by America's Most Wanted (the John Walsh television show) as an "America's Most Wanted All Star."
