RedDevil (4/16/2008)
509Trooper (4/16/2008) As I recall in the early 80's the 82nd took all of the TOW platoons out of the battalion Combat Support Companies and formed them into one brigade level company, E Company. It was E 504th in the First Brigade, E 325th in the Second Brigade and E 505th in the Third. I assume that is what he is referring to.Not quite. The Bde TOW companies (the Echo companies) had 3 TOW platoons each, while each BN CSC had 2 TOW platoons, for a total of 54 TOW launchers in each BDE RD, thanks for the info. I remember reading a little bit about it but there weren't a lot of details.

I believe the original TO&E was that each rifle company had 2 TOW launchers in its weapons plt, and it was these that the 82nd consolidated into the echo companies
