I agree, 509, and a bust in rank goes to E-2.  But, E-1 is a BIG hit, as I recall, it is (or was) used as part of a serious disciplinary strategy that could well include the stockade (or, in his case, the brig).

My time frame goes back a few years though.

All the way, sir!!!

Ted (3/6/2008)
The point that I raised, really hasn't been picked up.

In my time in service, I have seen NCO's busted a grade for some serios infractions.  But, when someone goes all the way down to E-1 after 2 years of service, that is usually a big red flag.

I would ask what the highest rank he was in service along with other service related questions.

Just my IMHO.

Actually an OTH generally comes with a reduction to the lowest grade.  most likely in was a chapter 10 (in leiu of Courts Martial)

Diroco,

There are 3 signs of old age:

1st- You lose your memory............................

2nd and 3rd.........I forgot.

And, doesn't a long time ago seem like just a few years?  It goes WAY TOO quickly.

As I recall reading on the 50's Jumpers website:  We can't do what we used to, but we still think the same.

Airborne!!!!

All the way, sir!!!

An OTH rates separation as an E-1 and an RE-4.  Once in a great while you'll find an E-2 but seldom.  The Navy has some real pissy rules and it's very difficult for the sailor to get support from the chain.  Most are supervisors and very few are leaders.

I was discharged with an OTH around the same time from the Navy, like the others have said . It was most likely a dumb mistake which we all made in our early ages . I would look past it and give the guy a chance. My employer questioned me on it and I was honest and to this day my employer couldn't be happier. Thanks for giving him a chance, I'm sure he will have respect for you and give you 100%.

Down in Panama we had guys burning piss tests all the time, some repeat customers and all the Bn did after so many strikes was bust them down to E-1 and Chapter them out.  I don't know if they were given OTH's; cause one E-5 from my Co who burned one ended up years later working as a Security Guard at the Art Musuem my mom was working at.

I'm Surprised Panama's still sea level, after all the Push Ups I did down there.

Okay, hero, SOP for this site is to fill out the bio in your profile and open a topic to introduce yourself to the others here before you start posting.
