Also, If you have something to say to me, have some moral courage and address me in front of the forum instead of sending me a back-handed nastygram on the private message so you can keep as many friends as possible. You know who you are, you disloyal coward.

I sure wish we knew the whole story. Last I heard the puppy was already dead and the whimpering noises were added in. I also heard the dogs were being destroyed to cut down on disease supposedly there was a fire pit off camera and these marines were tasked with the detail of burning the dead animals.
As far as personal attacks let us try and keep them too a minimum here. The beauty of this country is that we are all entitled to our personal opinions even if they outrage the majority. Rigger strives for the same concept on this site and I intend to see that it gets followed.

1chumley (3/17/2008) Absolutely. The Marine exercised poor judgement and is responsible for any trouble he gets in. Why? Because someone filmed it and he should not have allowed it to get filmed. He should have known people would get all butt-hurt about it and throw fits. Let me ask you all this: what is the difference between what the Marine did and someone going out with his rifle and shooting a coyote? In both cases a dog dies for a human's entertainment. What in the hell is the difference? You still don't get it! As the colorful LTG Honore would say: You are stuck on stupid!

| You know chumley you still don't get it dude, a coyote is not a puppy and is not a domesticated animal it is a predator BIG DIFFERENCE, a coyote is not helpless it will fight back and bite yer ass, a puppy cannot. I don't think it is a bad thing cause it was caught on film...it was a bad thing cause it was done, sport! Jeez, the kid has some serious problems and as a I said before deep character flaws to want to hurt a defenseless animal, ooooo how tough the big bad Marine is wow I want to be just like him a natural born killer, if you really believe that anyone in their right mind thinks that then there is a problem. It's bad enough the Liberals already hold the military in such low esteem and if another Liberal gets into office as President our military is headed for the hurt locker again but we don't have to give them the weapon and ammunition needed to vilify us. This Marine dishonored not only his fellow Marines but all US military personnel cause that's what the average numbnuts off the street percieves...that we are all jackbooted puppy killers...wonderful. Again this incident isn't bad because the Marine got caught...it's bad because it is morally bad period! There is no way to "spin" this it was bad for what it did not because some idiot kid is getting hammered for his "Jackass" wannabe stunt. If he was my Troopie he'd be going to the TMC to get my boot pulled square out of his ass then he'd be prefered for charges. Even if the puppy was already dead the perception of the event is the "reality" in today's world. So it really makes no difference since what the world "sees" is what in their mind's actually happened.
Stand in the door!

| Now.. if the video was staged in such a way where the animal appeared to be alive and they did the wimpering thing.. then its just a stupid video done in very poor taste. This is a very important distinction and I hope that if it IS the case, they get that information out pronto. Using the assumption that the video is what it appears to be, it still stands as a defenseless animal vs something that is capable of defending itself or posing a threat to the service people in the area (either by phyiscal attack or disease). Even if the strays were a threat due to disease the humane thing to do would be to find effective, quick and clean methods to put them down. We afford that even to the chickens, pigs and cattle that we kill and consume each day so I firmly believe we can manage it for a few dogs. Lets not start calling each other out on the boards, we can disagree and debate out in the open but lets keep civility.

Let me ask you all this: what is the difference between what the Marine did and someone going out with his rifle and shooting a coyote? In both cases a dog dies for a human's entertainment. What in the hell is the difference?Man, you just do not get it do you? A coyote is a predatory animal, that has been known to not only kill livestock but to attack people. Particularily small children. That said, where I live they are a still a protected species, as are domestic animals. Domestic animals include dogs, cats, etc.. and if you pull some cruelty to animals like that, or even condone it you are all done in my book. I have little else to say out here that will not be considered outright flaming. You want to know why someone sent you something via PM rather than out here in the open? Likely because you; A. Probably deserved it and B. We try to keep it somewhat civil on the board except for Posers and shitheads who bring it on themself. Now call me a coward for not saying exactly what I think about you out here or even in private.... Please.
