While he doesn't have any head or spinal injuries it still was painful to see him on a vent and seemingly unaware of his surroundings, but Chaplain Dave and I spoke to him, signed his guest book and left him some p-net stickers and a couple of cards. He is in no way responsive and still needs intensive prayers and good wishes from us...don't let up! I hated to see our Brother in the shape he is in, his bed is doing the crazy tilt-a-whirl thing that is disconcerting but by all means anyone who is attending the Airborne Awards needs to come with us to pay a visit. Keep sending the prayers!

Dale Have they given you any indication as to how long he will be vented, in a drug induced coma? Prayers sent every day.

Way to represent brothers. Wish I could stop by too. I will continue to pray.
The hippo is unpredictable and aggressive with old scars and fresh, deep wounds providing signs of daily fights that are accompanied by much bellowing, neighing and snorting.

Dale, I am thinking either before or after the Memorial Luncheon on Friday.
Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American GI. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

He's definitely hurt bad and much prayer is still needed. I'm guessing it is a drug induced coma from what was said by others. He we weren't able to get much info from the med folks. Any of you who go to visit need to know that it is important to talk to people who are comatose. They can frequently hear and understand what is happening--therefore it is important to also keep a positive attitude while you are there. I did see eye movement but it was clearly tied to the ventilator so I don't think it was conscious, although it may well have been.

"...my religious belief teaches me to feel as safe in battle as in bed. God has fixed the time for my death. I do not concern myself about that, but to be always ready, no matter when it may overtake me." He added, after a pause, looking me full in the face: "That is the way all men should live, and then all would be equally brave" General "Stonewall" Jackson
