06TJ (2/19/2008)look in the the Ultimate Sacrifices, that is where you will find heroes.

Amen to that.

Grouchy Hippo (2/19/2008)
Well since I only did five I have lately taken to saying that I did my sixth jump from about six feet up out of the side of a Huey on a hot lz in Kontum province. Makes me feel better about it at least.

Well, since you saw combat with an Airborne unit we will cut you some slack.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American GI.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Good luck with your claim. With the VA's backlog, it will be a LONG wait.

My lurking here has consisted of online searches that always ended up here and I always see a lot of good advice, so I thought I would join and post my question.  As for the intro and the bio, I have been having a hard time navigating the site, so any help as where to go would be appreciated (getting there, now have an avatar).

Short bio, I was in from 87-91 (Stationed in Berlin and a lot of TDY), did Green to Gold ROTC, jump school in '92 after I got hurt I gave up, not proud of quitting, but I'll admit I did.

Hell, I went back 2 years ago and Berlin was still fun.    I think 89-90 were the best for me, '91 was fun, but that was because I went on vacation to all the east Bloc countries I could.  Now that was an experience.  Between English and German I was able to get around fairly well in Europe.

My brother is a Chaplain over in Stuttgart and he doesn't want to come home. He just wangled another tour over there.

Maybe he will transfer to the German army so he doesn't have to come back.

The hippo is unpredictable and aggressive with old scars and fresh, deep wounds providing signs of daily fights that are accompanied by much bellowing, neighing and snorting.
