| I know I do not belong in this forum but you all seem to be the Subject Matter Experts. Would anyone be willing to answer a few questions I and my daughter have? She is in BCT at Ft. Jackson and she will be a 92R once she completes all of her training. She is very excited about her job but is understandably nervous. I will start out with only one question for now. I have a good idea what the answer might be but I was a 35H so I will go ahead and ask. What can she expect during her 3 week prep course at Ft. Jackson before she goes to Ft. Benning for Air Borne training? Lots of PT I would guess. Mike

| Welcome to the site, glad to have you and damn glad to see another future trooper on the way. First... its AIRBORNE.. One word Now, the hype is bigger than the BAC course by a mile. While you have to be in good phyical shape, I believe riggers have an advantage in that we go from BCT direct to Benning so if your daughter does well on the BCT AFPT she'll likely not have any PT issues at Benning. If she's good on the AFPT then the part that is really in her control is her attitude and her mental toughness. If she can maintain a great attitude, pay attention to detail and overcome the natural fear of heights then she should do great. If she's getting some post BCT booster for Benning prep (which I have heard mentioned elsewhere but didnt think they'd bother with a BCT grad) then she'll really be tuned up Benning. While they do hit the other AFPT points, at BAC the name of the game is run, run, run and oh... run some more. Its all about conditioning the legs for the weight, the landings and getting your butt off the DZ. Feel free to fire in your questions and we'll do our best to square you away.

| Thanks for the quick reply. OK, AIRBORNE, I will not make that mistake again. I will paste your reply into one of my daily letters to her. She is strong and fearless to a point. I think I will be visiting this site often. I sure I will have more questions I hope you'll don't mind. Mike

Just let her know she is in very good hands with the Black Hats at Ft. Benning. I also personally know some of the instructors that teach the Rigger course right now, so I know she will have the best training she can while at AIT. To give her some extra motivation, let her know that if she cannot finish or quits jump school, she will more than likely be reclassed to a cook!

Welcome Sir, and good luck to you daughter. I use to be a Black Hat (PathFinder), but often worked between cycles with BAC students, as long as she does what Sgt Abn says and is physically ready she should have no problem, Lots of push-ups, sit -ups, run, run and run Again Good luck to her. One other trick when she does her PT test tell her to get in the front of the line as the class get bigger the harder they grade.
Man it don't look good, I wouldn't Jump that

| Great advice has been given so please let your daughter know what's been said. I will stress the fact that IF she does quit or fail BAC, the army will choose another job for her.....she will have no say in that. That's one thing that I always thought about in BAC and it did motivate me to run, run, run, give the highest respect to my sgt airborne, and be squared away because I wanted to be a rigger! Good luck to your daughter! There's nothing more awesome than jumping out of a perfectly good airplane.
