hi, he was just like you and me. I don't mean that he was mortal, or ordinary, but the reason people loved him was because of how he was, not who he was.
One cannot call a bunch of people to follow unless it was in their natures to do so, ie. this was what they were here to do, and their understanding of such gave them purpose and hope in a better future and their devotion is now history.
Were he incarnate today I doubt be working in a full time job, or probably even a part of 'our' society, as he would be sickened at all the corruption and deceit we're force fed in the name of 'freedom'. I would hazard a guess, were he here today, he'd be happy to share a beer and hang out for a while. Just don't ask him to pay for the beer, as he'd be skint. How does God survive in today's world?
Can you imagine his tax return?
The occasion with the money changers was only one example recorded where it can be assumed he could not tolerate the desecration of the temple.
To understand peace, one also has to understand war, and although he may not have agreed with some policies carried out by those in power, he'd have been mighty proud of all those who fought for freedom, as to him, you are all 'brothers'.

Jesus was not 'just like' you and me. God was His father and He was not corrupted with a sin nature like the rest of the human race after the first sin in the Garden.

It is not in the 'nature' of any unregenerate/unsaved/lost human being to follow Christ. We cannot even seek Him, much less choose to follow him. (Romans 3, Psalm 14, Ephesians 2). Dead men CAN'T choose, spiritually speaking.

Now the good news:

God enables dead men to choose and follow Christ by His the enabling power of the Holy Spirit making us 'alive' and drawing us to Himself (John 6:44 & 65). So in that sense, We do not choose God, He choses us. He even told His disciples that (John 15:16).

In His Toolbox,
