| Soldiers have been complaining about the change, they have said they wanted a Uniform not a business suit, that many officers want so they do not have to purchase any more uniforms. Then telling all soldiers that you have to wear a beret then telling them they will not wear one, isn't going over very well especially in the Airborne and Ranger communities. I had soldiers trow a fit when they couldn't wear there berets during memorial services in Iraq. My opinion is this don't change it, unless the soldiers get to pick the design, based off of pride and what we want.

I honestly like the current Class-A's better. My main reasons are that I can wear my Corcorans and beret with it. I like the way our uniforms look now. I like displaying what I have done and where I have been. Hopefully they stop changing things like uniforms and focus on other areas that need change.

I noticed you were on the USS Guadalcanal. When were you on that ship? I flew out to it on a CH-46 on the way out of Lebanon. We landed and transfered to a CH-53 that took us on to Larnica, Cyprus. In my time in the Army it was the only time I was on a Navy ship.

The Guad launched the 24th MEU into Northern Iraq for Operation Provide Comfort where Saddams Republican Guards were running the Kurds into the mountains and starving them to death. The grunts went in and cleared the rat bastards in the small villages for their return and literally dumped MRE's in the fields in order not to get swamped by the villagers. Lots of "souvenirs" brought back!

Lots of "souvenirs" brought back! It was late in the month of May, 1984 that I was on the ship. After the flew us to Larnica we stayed in a hotel there for damn near a week before they got us a flight back to CONUS. During that time we hopped bars along the strip of beach there. That is when I found out that British sailors are the most fightingest suckers in the world. Twice in during that week Brit kids picked fights with us. All we wanted to do was get the hell home but what the hell.

509Trooper (5/6/2008) I am beginning to wonder if the new Class A has been given a quiet death. When Gen. Casey became CofS all that was required was his final approval. Then he decides to review the issue of combat patches, with a decision due first before the end of the year. The Army Times said late last year or early this year that a decision would be announced soon. Now we are almost halfway through the year and nothing has been said.Well, I was in the Buckley AFB MCSS last week and noticed that they are no longer carrying any of the dress green uniforms or accessories, although they do have the blues. However, they also have full color unit patches. (Buckley is a multi-service base with an Army MI Battalion so it has uniform stuff from all services there.) Don't know if that really means anything, though. Seems like the dress green stuff is being phased out.
