I didn't see the prayer I heard uttered on the lips of most troops, including my own, but I did find the "Traditional Paratrooper Prayer" funny.

As for the "Common Jumpers Prayer."

Dear Lord God, Forgive me of my sins.
May I miss the side of the Aircraft.
Please God let it open.
No twists or tangles Lord please
Thank You Lord, Now PLEASE help me avoid these other guys,
the trees, those power lines and and that big body of water over there.

Amazing how many troops find faith on the green light and under fire.

The hippo is unpredictable and aggressive with old scars and fresh, deep wounds providing signs of daily fights that are accompanied by much bellowing, neighing and snorting.

"...my religious belief teaches me to feel as safe in battle as in bed. God has fixed the time for my death. I do not concern myself about that, but to be always ready, no matter when it may overtake me." He added, after a pause, looking me full in the face: "That is the way all men should live, and then all would be equally brave"

I was not much of a religious person while in service, but I remember each time I looked up at my beautiful fully opened canopy I said "Thank you God, and the rigger who packed it".

All the way, sir!!!

The old saying during WWII. "There are no atheist in Foxholes, I think it also applies to "There are no atheist exiting an Aircraft in Flight". I said many a prayer before taking that step into nothingless.

Anyone ever seen the creation according to the Airborne? I used to have it back in the day but no more. It was on a SF site that is no longer up.
