I was stationed as a 96R at the 103d MI BN., and later the 101st after 3rd ID was reflagged to 1st ID. in Wurzburg, Germany from 1994 until 1996. I still detest Hohenfels and Graf till this day, but I did have a great time while in Germany.

Okay, let's air it out.  The requirement to post a bio and an intro is to give the members here the information to vet new posters.  Over the years on this board we have had a number of posers and trolls come on that we have eventually sniffed out.  We have learned that by getting new posters to give us some info on the front end it helps us to pick out the fakers fairly early.  So with that said, let's disect USERPAC INTEL posts.

First, he starts making posts without filling out a bio or posting an intro.  This isn't a problem since a lot of new users miss the point that those are requirements.  So he is told what to do.  Now at this point the offenders either comply or they want to know why we need the info.  A few take offense because they are legit and think we are somehow questioning their integrity.  I can't remember one legit Soldier who has repeatedly ignored the SOP outright.  Then, after his questions aren't getting answered he does post a bio in his profile, but still no introduction.  And when I open the bio I see all kind of imbedded code which usually happens when you do a cut and paste of something from a webpage.

In regard to his early posts he states that he was taught to use all caps.  Does anyone know any place in the Army where you are taught to type with all caps?  And as 82ndMP-RGR points out, he can't make a post without misspelling(at least until he started getting called out on it).  So I'll let the other members here make their own judgement.

I presume "Nasty Girl" means National Guard? I missed the no intro. My BS meter is going off. I think he needs to do some explaining and clarification.

USARPAC:  You are an interrogator, correct?  So what language did you get?  Your bio says you graduated basic in March and AIT in July.  When did you go to DLI?  Or is a language no longer required for 97E?

Barry, he does have what appears to be a valid AKO address.  And while I know he has rubbed a few people the wrong way here, I think that may be attributable to youth and inexperience.  Ditto with the posting from a web page - I'm getting the impression that USARPAC isn't extremely computer savvy.

FWIW I knew many people in intel who got into the habit of typing in all caps.  Back in the days when computers were pretty primitive some of the systems we had were all caps only.  Since I've been retired over 2 years I'm not sure how the schoolhouse is doing things, although it would seem to me that they'd be likely to use more modern computers where the all-caps thing isn't neccessary.

Bottom line, I'm in favor of cutting him a little slack.  He's not claiming to be a Navy SEAL/Ranger/Space Shuttle Door Gunner, just an intel grunt.

Incidentally, as I said above, 97E is (or was) interrogator.  To my knowledge, a foreign language is required.  Look at USARPAC's post and you'll see he went to basic, then AIT at Huachuca, then to his duty assignment - no language school.

Now, there are two possibilities here:  The first one is that he's not what he says he is...

But the second possibility is that he didn't need to go to DLI because he already knows a foreign language because he was born or raised in another country.

Look at his posts again - frequent misspellings and grammar errors, mistakes that even a high school graduate wouldn't make.  But someone who speaks English as a second language might well make those mistakes.  So I'm wondering if USARPAC might be from another country and joined up to use his language skills in the military?  Certainly it's a possibility we should at least consider.

Obviously, the other possibility is that it's someone trying to gather information in a rather ham-handed fashion.

And, USARPAC:  You could certainly clear things up by jumping in here and telling us a little more about yourself.
