All right boys and girls, it's time to begin the manifest call for this year's Static Line Awards Festival in Atlanta.  Registration starts Wednesday, April 9 and the Awards Banquet will be Saturday night, April 12.  In between will be the trip to Ft. Benning and lots of time in the hospitality room drinking beer from a bottomless cup.  So who else is going?

Well Boys I guess I'll attend.   What could we possibly arrange for an official P.Net party?  Seems to me we need some coordinated effort this time.  I know Al and Mark were last minute "no go" last visit.  Still how I can  help coordinate things here? Oh and the entertainment (not the Chorus but the other guys in the bar) officially SUCKED last year!!

The hotel remains the same every year.  Registration begins Wednesday, April 9 at 1200 hours.  By a strange coincidence the hospitality room opens at the same time.  Wednesday is strictly check in and meet and drink.  Expect one or two vendors to begin selling their items.  Bring your check book or plenty of cash.

Thursday is the bus trip to Ft. Benning.  Departure time from the hotel will be 0800, except for those of us waiting on Dale to wake up.  First to Eubanks Field for the Airborne 5000 Demonstration, followed by the ceremony at the Airborne Walk.  The schedule shows the trip to Red Cloud Range in order to put some rounds down range is next.  After that is lunch(don't know where if it is after Red Cloud, but it is catered by a local barbeque restaurant).  Then it is on to Fryer DZ(weather permitting) to pin the wings on the new Paratroopers.  Then it is back to Atlanta where there will be a meeting of the unit representatives at 2000 hours.  Of course, the hospitality room opens up at either 1600 or 1700 hours and expect all of the vendors to be open all day.

Friday there will be a cocktail hour at 1100 hours followed by the Memorial Luncheon.  The 1-507th will present the colors and the 82nd Chorus will perform.  There will be a briefing on the 82nd  by a rep from the Division at 1500 hours.  The hospitality room will open immediately following the luncheon and all of the vendors should be there by that point.

Saturday's activities start at 1000 hours with an update briefing on the 101st and the ladies brunch.  The hospitality room and vendors will be open until either 1600 or 1700.  At 1800 the cocktail hour begins with the Awards Banquet beginning at 1900 hours.  After the colors are again presented by the 1-507th Color Guard dinner will commence(Al, I'll have a bib just in case you forget yours).  After dinner the 82nd Chorus will perform again, followed by the presentation of the unit Men of the Year awards.  After the banquet is over the hospitality room and PX will again open.

One thing not on the official schedule, on Saturday the Association officers will travel to Anniston-Jacksonville for the installation of the officers for the Vulcan Chapter.  It will be at a location TBD, but expect it at a local restaurant.  In addition to the installation the Association President will present an Iron Mike to the Jacksonville State University Airborne Cadet of the Year.  All Troopers are invited to drive over for lunch.

Editing to add a couple of things.  First, cost is $35.00 for registration to the overall event and $35.00 for each individual event, i.e. Ft. Benning trip, Memorial Luncheon and Awards Banquet.  Overall $140.00 for the entire event.  Second, for those of you that served in DISCOM, the hospitality room means free booze.

Look man, it was ONE TIME and in WI they not only redeemed themselves they had THE PARTY room of the bunch (rigger waxes notalgically at the girls doing keg stands).

Ok, I have thrown a WARNORD to the wife that she needs to decide what logistics are available to cover children IF she is interested in attending. We'll see how that shakes out.

Mmmmmmmmm. I'm starting orders for 90-120 days starting 1 April. Yep on Aprils Fools day! I planned on taking leave or getting a pass for AA week, but I will see how this pans out. Should be doable. If it happens, it will only be me. HH6 and slices will remain with the FRG at FOB Rebel. Should be all for AA week. Saving up for the new tattoo.

Big Al!
