The Beret sure would beat to death those Service Caps that most service organizations (AL, DAV, and VFW) have; I don't like wearing my service cap to meetings cause of the memories of Legland that wearing it brings back. Having never served in Division; my Airborne time was spent in seperate units 1/508th Panama, and 1/509th JRTC I have no desire to wear the 82nd insignia sorry all you 82nd guys.Just my 1/508th and 1/509th on the matter.
I'm Surprised Panama's still sea level, after all the Push Ups I did down there.

| As said before, the official headgear IS the maroon beret. What you wear as a flash or not flash at all is up to the individual. BTW.....the 508th is part of the 82nd now..........

| 1. The beret is officially the headgear 2. The point of not doing unit flash and crest was addressed... some people dont have one (older unit or never airborne, difficult to find) and then we have the issue of people having to get separate headgear for national board service 3. Forget the 504, we should do one of the support units flash and crest if you're going to do it... this way we can show that the smart people are in charge. [/quote] Ah Correction: 1. The beret was set as the official headgear but Once something becomes " Official" then the SOP would be for National Directors to wear it. Instead " They " insist that any and All National Directors wear The white C Cap as Official Headgear. 2. Please refer to Point # 1 also as stated , if one does not have unit assigned then they can wear DIV Flash . 3. Was just a joke since we seen how many have taken over the board last election.

| While I can perfectly understand the issues with wearing the 82nd patch if you were not part of that unit, as a member of the association, you are going to have to endure at least the logo/name usage since thats the unit that this association was started on and the unit we are tied to as an active role. What I am hoping to do here is come up with a way where the association logo is the only direct 82nd reference while allowing members from other units, other services and other countries to show thier unit pride.

I have no problem with the patch in the logo as it is a trademark(I think it is a registered trademark) of the Association. I also would not have a problem with a beret flash based on the Division HQ flash with some modification for the Association to set it off from the active duty guys. It just felt like wearing just the patch and not the Association logo was to represent that I had been in Division.

Your right Barry, I am actually thinking of engaging the same company that did the Chicago pin to come up with an actual association logo lapel pin/crest that isnt just the patch with a wreath, I think we can do it as a solid piece so at a distance it is still recognizable as the association logo (to include the text of the logo in the pin)

Let us not forget that it was IJ who jumped into Northern Iraq as a member of the 173rd's B co 1/508th. He's back there now with the 503rd; perhaps the 1/508th is still assigned to the 173rd. I know about the 2/508th and it's recent sordid history. If memory serves me right that Bn had just changed it's colors in more ways than one.
