So I reenlisted for another 3 years, I got BAC and a nice bonus, I was pretty sure my odds were on my favor to get Fort Bragg since im an 11B E4. Well, I graduated Airborne a couple of weeks ago and got orders to Hood and I was pretty sure I was gonna go to the new 1st ID brigade being stood up there but I called branch to give it just one more try about going to Bragg and the guy pulled up my file and told me that I was going to a jump status unit, Corps Lurs. I didnt quite buy right away and I did my research, there is a Intel BDE in Hood but their LRSU is a National Guard unit! Things are just not adding up. I did talk to a friend there at the new 1st ID brigade and he told me that there is a Corps LRSU, they are new thats why they arent posted nowhere online and they are trying to get their jump status.

Can anyone shed some knowledge? Thanx.

I'd call my Branch Manager again, and ask for a contact name and phone number.  I'd call the unit, and show up a day or two early to visit before signing in.

Hard for the guys to divert you if the Co 1st Sgt is standing next to you when you sign in.

Just to follow up on this and let everyone know whats the jazz up here. The unit is a new LRS company being stood up, it falls under the 504th BfSB (Battlefield Surveillance Brigade) and it has been designated as B Troop, 38th Reconnaisance Cavalry Squadron. We are based on Fort Hood (West) and we are pretty much the only slice of life in an otherwise M.I. world. I just PCS'ed here from the 506th RCT in Fort Campbell and after being there for 3 years, I do kinda feel weird having females walking around our backdock. About the PCS, cause I know theres gonna be questions about that, heres the scoop. I reenlisted for another 4 years in March, requested Airborne along with a very nice bonu$ and prior going to jump school, I got orders to Hood pending jump status. At first I fought and fought them, thinkin that I was going to a mech or cav but it turned out that I came straight here. I am very happy to have this assignment and I cant wait to hit this hardcore. I just got here about 4 weeks ago and so far its pretty sweet. Were gettin all our gear now, and we should be gettin our airborne status in February. I should be attending RANGER in march so wish me luck on that ordeal, lol.

ALWAYS ON FRONT!

So, if you pcs'ed directly into it, will others as well?  And there's chicks in the company, or battalion.   Tell me it's still 11 bravo's only.   Please.  And tell me, your primary R,S,TA,&BDA mission is still behind enemy lines...

I wish they'd do away with that cav crap as well....

Ah Fort Hood.........spent time there myself in 3/66 Armor and 2/1 Cav, 2nd AD.

Hood is a hunters and fishermans paradise!

If you do both then enjoy your time there!

Plenty of turkey on the reservation and bout a million or so rabbits, both bunny and jack.

Fossils of an ancient seabed abound if you look on the hill tops and in some of the washes.

A probably the largest sportsman range to fire off the ol civilian Barret .50 if you happen to have one!!

I always went to the field with a fishing rod and a pellet pistol. But I'm just sayin'.

Big Al!

Thanks "Jr",  Commo = Commo slots.  I always took pride in assisting my 11B brothers to understand the art of antenna theory and wave provigation.
