If you get Airborne qualified you could aspire to be just as crazy as we are someday. Seriously though, you do need to be in good physical condition. If it's anything like it was in my time (1978) then you were either running, beating your boots, doing sit-ups, the "dying cockroach" or doing push-ups, even while you waited your turn at a PLF platform, tower or SLT, etc. You keep moving ALL DAY LONG! That's about the worst of it aside from falling from increasingly high places and hitting the ground. .........unless you piss off a Sergeant Airplane.........you'll recognize them by their the cute little black headgear.....

| It takes attention to detail as one of the big items, something you need to hone to a fine point because you registered, then failed to Report In on the right forum section THEN put THIS post in the Qualification Range which is technically just a test bed for cherries to post to get used to the forum technical items. Once you get yourself squared away on those fronts you'll want to ask yourself a couple simple questions. 1. If you couldnt go airborne, would you reenlist anyway? 2. If you're reenlisting to go airborne, is it because you want a high speed low drag unit for your next assignment and will you hate that reenlistment if they send you to school and you are forever a 5 jump trooper? 3. IF you get your wish, go airborne and get into one of the high speed low drag units, are you prepared for a higher pace, higher demand and likely higher likelyhood of deployment than other units? Now... IF you're got all THAT set in your head, back up and review your first post, you dont go down to Airborne School with doubts, if there is a trooper in there then you either put in your head that school is just the route through which you get to where you want to go... OR you dont. We dont have grey .... you either ARE a paratrooper, or you are NOT.

NO
You should re-enlist because you want to continue your service to the country. You should go to Airborne School if you have a desire to serve with some of the best soldiers in the Army.
As long as you are physically fit, don't shoot your mouth off and can follow instruction you can make it through the first two weeks of jump school.
If you are crazy enough to throw your body out into the air and have faith that the rigger packed your chute correctly, then you can make it through the third week of jump school and earn the silver wings.
You will have to change your entire belief structure if you want to be Airborne.
Remember that Jump School is three weeks long.
In week one they separate the boys from the men.
In week two they separate the men from the fools.
In week three they let the fools jump.

I graduated with a S.E.A.L. Team. If those squids can make it through then the Army's best PAC clerk could do it twice as good.

| You need attention to detail. You must be in execellent physical shape. And above all, you must have determination. Airborne always goes the extra mile, so must you. Airborne has vehicles, therfore it needs mechanics. So, you could very well find a home in the Airborne.
All the way, sir!!!
