According to the G-2 I got, the Jury awarded the Marine's family 2.9 million. It will surely be appealed, probably end up in the Supreme Court. I hope more families sue the satanic assholes.

| I knew this wouldn't be a popular opinion, but I stand by what I said. If the government can limit where you can practice your freedom of speech it is only a small step to limiting what you can say. As I understand it the "church" gets the proper permit from the local authorities, so while despicable their actions are not illegal or even something that can be litigated. It's normally around thirty days before an appeal has to be filed, and that only starts the clock running on the briefs. It may be different up there, but in most places in order to recover damages you have to actually show some monetary damage. I fully expect the appellae courts will throw this verdict and award out. One of the complaints here and across the Country is that we as a society are too litigious. Yet because we don't like one group's speech now everybody is saying they should get sued and win. Not every wrong is actionable by the courts. People may do lousy and despicable things but that doesn't mean that they have a lawsuit or should pursue one.

That's why I think a good ole fashion ass kickin is sometimes in order. If this group wants to come rolling out with thier bs and nobody wants to go to court, then let the people who are being picketted go out and face down this group the old fashion way. Maybe some large group of veterans should demonstrate outside thier church on a sunday morning... better yet, maybe a large group of the homosexuals that this group really fears.

| The $2.9 million is just for compensatory damages. The jury returned with an even higher award for the family later on. The federal jury first awarded $2.9 million in compensatory damages. It returned in the afternoon with its decision to award $6 million in punitive damages for invasion of privacy and $2 million for causing emotional distress. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21566280/

Finally, some justice!! Now, will they pay? Nothing happens on paying until the appeals are finished. You should prepare yourself for this to be reversed by the Appellate Court.

| Like shouting "fire" in a crowded theater, the legal measure here ought to be the propensity of the "free speech" to inflict damage on others. And it seems to me that the actions of this group, while exercising its right, simultaneously takes away the rights of others by inflicting uninvited and unwarranted psychological damage (which may ultimately manifest itself physically). As this case is clearly emotionally charged and presents a legal quandary, I will not be surprised if it makes it to the Supreme Court. In the interim, rights aside, I spit on all the members of this group.
