Hey all,

Spent tie with the nickel-o-nasty (509th) at the animal farm and Vicenza, also with 509th OPFOR at Chaffee.  Saw Russ Ackley came by here, an old buddy of mine!  Any others here from B Co (bendoverbravo) back in 73-76?

Welcome to the site.  I arrived in Vicenza and was assigned to Bravo Company in May of 1978.  I am the President of the 509th Association.  If you are interested in membership or need anything let me know.

Thanks 509trooper!

Get this! After digging around back in 1991, it was determined that I am the ONLY 509th Soldier to ever serve in the 509th in Mainz, Vicenza, AND at Chaffee!  Now, there was a SGM at Chaffee who had been in all three places, but he was at JRTC headquarters element at Chaffee, NOT in the OPFOR Battalion, so he didn't count! He was actualy in the same company with me in Mainz and Vicenza, and he retired while I was at Chaffee, but he went to work for BDM Plans writing the scenarios after retirement, so he was still around.

By the way, I have the negatives and slides of everything that B Company did while I was at Vicenza. Loads of pics there, but not sure where the negative books are, but I DO have them!  All my crapola is still in storage for the time being, but when I get a chance, I will look for them!  I even have the pics of the battalion donning their maroon berets for the first time in 1973, September, I think!

I seem to recall the beret ceremony as being in May of 1974, shortly after I arrived in Vicenza. Of course that was many moons ago so I could be mistaken. But I don't think so.

When did the 509 convert to 4/325 in Vicenza?

Was Bobby Teague CSM at the time?
