At the Reunion last month it was determined that the website below is going to become the official site of the Association.  The first thing scheduled is to have an area for official news from the Association and the active battalions.  The webmaster will be working on adding message boards at a later date.

Barry, I forget to tell you, Dawn and I had a nice long conversation with John Gelway, who jumped into North Africa with the 509th, and then went on to jump four more times with the 82nd!!!

One of the few 504th Patherfinders to jump Normandy.

Great American hero!

Al, I talked to him at the Norfolk and West Virginia Conventions.  He is a great guy.  Actually he made both Algeria jumps with the 509th and jumped with the 504th at Salerno, Normandy and Holland for his five jumps.  He is the only veteran that I know of that made five combat jumps in WWII.

I'll go with that...he did say that he made both jumps in Italy, but of course he's in his 80's so I'll give him the benifit of the doubt. Still a real hero.

I understand, Al.  I am going on what he told me and the history of the Pathfinders.  Remember, the 82nd didn't start their pathfinder units until after Sicily.  But your point about Mr. Getway is right.  For those of you in the Association who are interested, he was the one on the cover of the Paraglide a couple of years ago which showed Rumsfeld shaking his hand.

Barry,

I met you at the re-union in Fayetteville in 2000.  I paid my dues in 2000, got a membership card and a decal, and then never heard from anyone again.   Let me know where I can re-up, please.  Thanks,

DanL

Good grief!  Will the 82nd Association ever be the same again?  Hopefully these guys will have their own reunions held on a different venue than the Divisions venue so at least the division can have some hope survival.
