I am reclassing into infantry. I graduate OSUT in July. My squad leader and plt. sgt. are ex-11B's and they want to give me thier disks and cord at graduation. Would this be allowed? Plt.Sgt. said he wasnt shure if they allowed it anymore. Thanks in advance!

I would think that if they are at your graduation and you informed your DI of their intent it could be arranged. If all they want to do is to give them to you. The yes. Just don't put them on until after graduation.

Thanks artic. Just so I know.... when would I be able to put them on? Because the way they were wanting to do it was to go down and pin them on just like you would air assault wings. Or something like that. I was a hard start at basic training so i have absolutly no idea how those ceremonies work. All I know is Air Assault and WLC ceremonies. So if you could break it down crayola style that would be great! Thanks for your time again

Can't tell you a thing about how it is done today. I got my 30+ years ago. But like I said. Let your DI know and he should be able to tell you all you need to know.

At my brother's graduation a couple years ago, they had a 'Turning Blue' cermony the afternoon before the graduation.  They marched the soldiers out in their Class B's, and part of the ceremony was to let the family members come out in the formation and slip the blue cord on.  The guys were carrying the cord in their pocket during the ceremony, and they just pulled them out when we got out there.  My brother just handed the cord to me and I put it on him.  We didn't do the disks because it was just B's (too damn hot for A's).  This was in 05, so it may still be the format they use now.
