Josh's unit got hit yesterday. Mortars. One KIA, several wounded. Including one platoon leader. (he won't be coming back, lost an eye)

Josh is alright. A little shaken, but has handled it well. He just took over as company XO and this happens.

His FOB didn't have bunkers to get into. The leadership shoulda seen that before taking over a couple of months ago and constructed some. That KIA coulda been avoided.

I bet there are constructing some right now!!!

Glad to hear Josh is good to go but that sucks for the others. Just starts to make you wonder if so many deployments are putting the gang in an overly relaxed posture.

Al, glad to hear that Josh is all right; I feel for the family of that soldier who was KIA who I would to express my Condolences to them.  Isn't that the way things get changed in this world only after someone gets killed or royally F'd up; like what happened with that bunker situation at Joshes FOB, I just hope some people get reprimanded for that oversight since people were wounded and a life was lost because of not being prepared.

I'm Surprised Panama's still sea level, after all the Push Ups I did down there.

How many of us were truly prepared for it when the elephant stampeded over our little imagination of what war was like hmm? I know I sure as hell wasn't... did my duty but had the shakes something aweful afterwards when the threat was past and I came down off the adrenaline and cortazol.

Josh will be okay... he nows fully understands the nature of the beast and will adapt accordingly.

Rest in peace to his fallen and hope his wounded make a swift recovery...

Indirect fire will kill you just as dead as direct fire. When we were not eating or sleeping we were filling sandbags.

Glad to hear Josh is safe.  Al, tell him that we all wish him well.  Condolences to the family of those fallen, his blood family and his unit family.
