Just reassure her that the excess weight is all breast milk.

Do you listen to yourself when you talk; or do you just fade in and out?

LOL! This is true. Try to keep in mind that while all women have body image issues, women who've just given birth are 10 times more self-conscious, especially when it's a first-time mother. I know it sounds strange (mainly to men), but the physical makeup of women feels entirely different after childbirth. You just feel, how do I put this, like your muscles are softer and more relaxed and that your body has much less tone. It's a huge experience and change physically, not just emotionally and hormonally. The hips don't just widen for the birthing process alone. They tend to stay that way. Even though you may be 5 lbs from pre-baby weight (PBW), you still feel much wider. Exercise is the biggest hurdle when trying to achieve pre-baby form, mainly due to time constraints and EXHAUSTION. You could get her a couple of stretchy bands in different lengths and reassure her that strength training will help everything move back into position. The sooner after birth a woman starts (usually at 6 weeks and/or a dr's ok), though, the easier and quicker it is. And just keep telling her she's beautiful. Sheesh.

| Sorry I have missed this thread. Falcon, I currently have a 6 1/2 month old baby. Guess what, That Baby weight goes away. My wife weighs less than she did before the Preagency. I am not sure if she is breast feeding but they say that people doing that lose weight quicker. Hell, I have had to buy almost a new wardrobe for my wife because she lost so much weight. Also, Get a Diaper Genie. It kills the smell and is the best invention ever. If you have any other questions just ask. I am almost an expert now, LOL!

| Got the diaper Genie...Mrs. Falcon is a pre-school teacher and had one waiting at home! The only thing I learned is to use it only for the poopy ones...the pee-only diapers don't really stink. Bee, I do tell her how beautiful she is...all the time! She has the Turbo-Jam CDs now and is rocking it out. We went for a jog the other day with Jr Falcon and then she went home to hit Billy Banks while I went to Jiu-Jitsu. It is just a body issue with her. She was just never "heavy" (her words) and is having some trouble with this transition period. Her brother is getting married at the end of July and she wants to look good when the extended family and friends see her for the first time after the baby.
