JR,

I am not in the military but I do think that is totally wrong.  They allow people leave for stupid things and yet you don't get leave for being with your wife after surgery.  I just don't understand sometimes.  Hubby's soldier's son was having problems back here.  They would not grant him leave from Iraq.  1 week later his son was dead.  I feel for you.

I am glad to hear Michele is getting out of there and onto Atlanta.  I thought about you today as I drove by Young's Dairy (a great eating place).  There was a Corvette car show today and there were Corvettes from all eras.  They were beautiful! Give my best to Michele.

Hey JR....ever think about joining the Air Force????

<ducking from thrown boot>

Seriously, what you described is pure BS!!! Frickin' unit should know that your wife was having surgery and that you needed to be by her side. DEMOB takes a few hours. Stupid frickin' LEGS!!!!

Don't worry Airborne, in a month you'll look back and just lauuuuuuugh.

BTW, 3rd Avenue in LaCrosse has a shitload of bars to drown your sorrows in. May I recommend Dels Tavern. I staggered outta there one Easter Sunday morning just in time to watch the sunrise. With a beer in my hand, I called my dad to wish him a Happy Easter!!!!

Another bar I remember was Big Als Beef and Wetgoods. Might still be around. Tell 'em Big Al sent ya!!!!

That's nuthin'. The Cap'n and me stumbled out of a biker bar on 3rd Ave when we went in there to tell the guys some dude in a pick-up truck had knocked their bikes over. (I think the name of the place was the War Bonnet? ) We didn't have a problem with the bikers but the biker chicks were unfriendly and were tapping pool cues in their hands for some reason.

Welcome home JR and BS6

Germany and WRAMC are well run.  Stateside MOB sites are a total goatfuck. They are ran by chickenshit POGUES who wont BTDT.

The blessings are you and your wife are home safe and sound. Talk to FT. McCoys chaplain if you have a dense CMD. Any padre worth hs sacrament should get this ironed out muy pronto.

Again welcome home. Y'all living proof God listens to prayers

What ever happen to:

fuck those fucking fuckers...

EGG-Zackly!!!!!

To clarify - I was on emergency leave, but ran out of days.  I asked for a pass in conjunction with the leave (which has recently been authorized), but they turned it down - AND THEN - Told me to travel 1/2 way across the country with less than 24 hours notice.

They appear to have no concept of LOYALTY - In my opinion.

Anyways - It's now done and BS6 is happy at home, where her Mommerenem can take good care of her until we can reunite.

Meantime, I'll find out in the next 24-72 hours what wonderful things the Army has in store for me during their last little bit of time to screw with my life.

:o)

Howdy from Atlanta!

Thanks for all the great thoughts and comments and prayers, everyone.  I'm doing pretty good, but how can you NOT be doing good on percocet?  Ha ha!  Actually, the pain is disappating quickly and don't even need the narcs anyore.  Surgery and recovery have been without any problems.

The overall time in the hospital was good.  I wasn't there long and it was a great relief when the family came through and bailed me out--my sister, mom & grandma and brother were all ready to head to DC to pick me up, so it was good, and travel was not as bad as I thought it would be.  I now have lots of time to recover and my plans basically match my dogs: lay on my ass and eat when someone feeds me!

This might be a little too much detail, but I got to go home without a catheter.  It was about a 50/50 chance.  The docs did a little test to see if I could go without, and when I told JR I think my exact words were, "I pissed like a champ!"  It's the little things, you know?

Hopefully JR will be able to come back soon, if for nothing more than the upcoming holiday to pick up his car.  It is pretty sweet, and I'm digging the new truck.

As for all the crap with JR, we knew he'd have to report in somewhere on Friday, but we thought it was going to be at Belvoir, the last minute McCoy thing was ridiculous.  I was still coming out of the general anethesia when he left, so it was both boring and irritating.  At this point, my thought is that every day he spends on active is just one more closer to him retiring.

Thanks again!
