| He is going. Good for Harry for wanting to go. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,269273,00.html

The truth is that with all the security that will be surrounding Harry's unit he might as well not go. He will not get the experience that he and his unit are hoping for. That is the reality of it.

| I think this is a mistake, for a number of reasons. First of all, because it sends a message to the terrorists that threats work and that England is so terrified of a bad publicity incident that they'll knuckle under without a fight. Second, intentionally or not it sends a message to the English people that some lives are more valuable than others. Yes, yes, I know the "official" reason is that troops might unneccessarily become casualties trying to protect the Prince, but the appearance that Harry is being spared a tour in the war zone to keep him "safer" than the thousands of other troops there is going to resonate throughout England. Whatever happened to the spirit of Henry V?

RangerRios (5/8/2007) The truth is that with all the security that will be surrounding Harry's unit he might as well not go. He will not get the experience that he and his unit are hoping for. That is the reality of it.I agree totally. I was just going to say this as well. The article states: "These threats exposed him and those around him to a degree of risk"... As opposed tooo........ What. LOL. Been to iraq lately? lol. "he is a magnet for jihadists." Again, as opposed tooooo........what. Us? Were not? Ok, lol, been down MSR Tampa, or Route Irish lately? lol. Want to let ya in on a little secret. If youre white, and not wearing a man dress in iraq, youre a target. a HUGE walkin VS17 panel. People want you dead. BAD. It dont matter WHO you are man. People are using their wives and kids as shields, to get close enough to you, to ignite their vbied's. You think the arrival of one more dude can possibly make it any worse? lol. I say let him go man. If he gets killed, at least its an honorable way to die, and his name will live as someone that had courage, integrity, and didnt try to milk the system, and dodge service just cuz he had the option. He will lead the way for others to follow. Once he displays, that even HE's not above serving, many men beneath him will be inspired. I know i would. Too bad theyre not letting him go now. I bet he will feel like shit 10 years from now.

| If he were to go to Iraq, and become a casualty, what would the end result be. Sure we would be saying he did the right thing, he served, but what would Al jazeera and every other terrorist website do with this info. Would this be a victory for them. These people do not think like we do, they recruit at an age we would not think of and they have no morals or ethics as we see it, but to them they are martyrs and heros. We can say he was a hero, he did the right thing all day long, but in the end, it wil be a terrorist recruiting tool. They wage the war of information daily and they do it better because they understand their audience, their messages send true hope to the believers and the only thing the prince going to Iraq would do is give the enemy an opportunity to exploit and recruit more followers. His personal desires need to be put aside and he should just do what is best for the effort. This is not about him, its about winning a war. Him deploying to Iraq will not change the course of this war, but him being a casualty could very well send recruits to their martyrdom at a huge cost to friendly forces.
