The problem when I went through is that there is a limit on how long you could stay on medical hold like that. I think thirty days was the max(unless your time fell during the Christmas holiday break) and then you either had to go through the course or you would be put on orders to a non-airborne unit in the regular Army. There is a fine line between pushing through the pain in order to successfully complete it and doing something stupid that will cause a more serious injury that will take longer to recover from. If he can handle it and finish I would probably say that he should.
Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American GI. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

All I remember is my shin splints (trying not to limp around the Black Hats) and my feet, ass, head landings.
Why play lawn darts when you can be one?
Q: Miss, were you cited in the accident? A: Yes, sir, I was so 'cited I peed all over myself. -actual courtroom testimony

Broke 2 toes on my second jump, double timed off the DZ and finished my last three jumps.

We're not "pig-headed" I believe the trait is called Robust otherwise known in some circles as "Hard-Headed." On my last jump 17 years ago I cracked my head on a rock after being drug 300 feet on my face on the DZ, the rock lost; yeah I spent 3 months in a coma and about a year in the various hospitals but I'm alive, married, and have 2 beautiful daughters now so life isn't too bad. Keep him in you're prayers and stop thinking all these negative thoughts about us paratroopers it's the legs of the world who really are the pig headed ones.
I'm Surprised Panama's still sea level, after all the Push Ups I did down there.

| Recycle was one of the most horrible words I ever heard in my life. There was no way I was ever going to start over or take a chance on getting dropped. I had bronchitis twice. Basics and Airborne. I NEVER went to sick call. They were going to have to drag me out of there. Recycle and quit are the two nastiest words I know. Leave the troop alone. He'll be fine.
