From conception back in late 93' to its first successful flight demo in late 01', delivery of the  EA-18 Growler to Widbey Island after going into production at Boeing in Nov 04' is good news for the military that's been waiting on the electronic jammer to fulfill an important role in the fight on terrorism.

The Air Force provides standoff jamming with modified EB-52s or EB-1s, and close-in jamming with unmanned air vehicles such as the Northrop Grumman Global Hawk or General Atomics Predator.
