What can anyone tell me about preparing myself for Warrant Officer School? I just put in my packet for Nat Guard.

It would be helpful to know which warrant program.  Helo flight at Rucker?  Medical?  What critical retention skill did you possess that the ARNG was seeking WO candidates for and have you already been selected, or did you just put in an application package?

Was 11b1p active duty. Going Medic in Nat Guard and they asked if I would like to fill out a Warrant Officer packet. I was just called today by a buddy of mine who told me it has basically already been approved. I'm currently going back to school to get a paramedic certification.

I made a call this evening to get an idea of the current ARNG requirements for WO recruiting in the medical field.  I was told that the ARNG was slammed full with applications and that they are focusing on applicants with certifications as PA's, LPN's and flight qualified paramedics.

Here is a web site with information for current applicants in the process: http://usawocc.army.mil/warrant_off/career.htm

The reason I asked about special skill sets is because the Army historically has sought to promote from enlisted to warrant those individuals who possess skills of very specialized education, but may not have a college degree and be eligible for direct commission or OCS.  I wish you well in your application, but wonder if you possess the skill set requirements not having yet attained your paramedic license.  If you fill a current need and have the qualifications where so many applicants are attempting to fill limited slots indeed the military has set aside this program for people just as yourself.

You can prepare yourself by reading this information here:  https://leav-www.army.mil/wocc/woes/wocs.htm (Official Army Site)

This was from 1998 and covers the pilot WOCS at Rucker http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/6421/wocorien.html

Actually the Ga. Guard will take just about anyone who has spent more than a couple of years in service into the program. I didn't apply because I didn't have the 6 years or more experience in the field I was working at the time, which was 92 Logistics...doh! Now I found out they would have accepted me anyway as the Ga. Guard is short of WOs in most fields...go figure!

Stand in the door!

Even back before 9/11 the Guard and Reserve were critically short of WO candidates to fill slots.  I can't imagine the situation has gotten any better.  I tried to go Warrant while I was on active duty, but unfortunately this was 94-95 which was the height of the Clinton-era drawdown.  I was boarded twice, "fully qualified, non selected" for 350B (All-Source Intelligence Technician) so I decided to get out and finish college instead.
