Welcome, push for the Airborne with All your Heart and Sould Snow; and reagantrooper that's a shame about your son being a leg and all Bro, but I know you're Proud of him Still.
I'm Surprised Panama's still sea level, after all the Push Ups I did down there.

RT, your son might be a leg but he is a BTDT hooah now. He might be able to get rid of that nasty leg status on his way to becoming a DI. Where does he plan to be a DI at?

| I did the split op when I joined back in the darker ages. Worked out just fine for me, however staying up with PT is something you will have to definitely watch out for. My opinion of the USAR compared to NG is this: I hated the 3 years I spent in the Reserves. They have no combat arms units to speak of, and no units on jump status to speak of, except Civil Affairs. Any pay problems or personnel problems in the Guard need only go as high as the state HQ to be solved. Everything with the USAR had to go back east to St. Louis or who knows where and took forever to get fixed. Personally, I would talk to a Guard recruiter as well. The chances of getting BAC in your contract if you're not going to be part of an Airborne unit are VERY slim to none. What state are you in?

The only airborne units in the ARNG system are LRSD or LRSC...or the 19th or 20th Groups, SFG(A).

RangerRios (1/29/2007) RT, your son might be a leg but he is a BTDT hooah now. He might be able to get rid of that nasty leg status on his way to becoming a DI. Where does he plan to be a DI at?He is in a reserve DI unit based here in NH. Not sure of the units disignation. They are headquartered in the the same building as his Trans unit is and they "recruited" him and his CO aproved his release so now he is in the DI unit. Not to sure where he will be going to DI School but it will be this summer.

If he goes to Ft Benning tell him to try for a basic airborne course [BAC] slot.

The only airborne units in the ARNG system are LRSD or LRSC...or the 19th or 20th Groups, SFG(A).
Most of the LRS units are due to go away by August 2008, so no one should make any long term plans to be in one of them. USAR has three rigger companies and the ARNG has one. USAR has a unit called the 2125th Garrison Support Unit that mobilizes to Fort Bragg and apparently it has jump slots. Also at Fort Bragg is the 82nd Airborne Division Detachment, a small USAR unit supporting the active duty 82nd Abn Div. Additionally, USAR has the 982nd Signal Company, which has partial Airborne capability, as well as elements of the 528th Support Battalion (Special Operations). There are also Airborne civil affairs and psyops units on jump status in USAR. If anyone wants specific unit designations and locations in order to pursue signing up, speak up.
