Is there a roster of members of the 17th? Pictures? My Dad was a young Sargent who made the Rhine jump but, never talked much about the war to us even though he remained in the Army for 30 years. I'm trying to do some research and any help would be appreciated.

best, Tim

Welcome to the Cyber Drop-Zone where the Rigger is in charge, and the Jumpmaster says when to jump, and YOU get to................STAND IN THE DOOR!!!!

Out of every 100 men, ten shouldn't even be there, Eighty are just targets, Nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back." - Hericletus, circa 500 BC

Thanks for asking that question,  flyboy--I just joined today,  my dad was also in the 17th.  He too did not talk much about his experiences,  most of what I know I learned in his later years.    I will be interested to look at the links that came out of your question.  ("is there a roster of the 17th...?")

You can see what I wrote about my dad in post #230006 under 'Qualification Range.'

Here is also a 17th Div Assoc page over on mil.com.  You have to join mil.com to access any G-2 about the webpage, which is not a problem.

RJ, with all this talk about the US military wanting to add units; here's and idea why don't they ReActivate the 17th Airborne Division like the ReActivated the 173rd Airborne Brigade a few years back?  We need more motivated Hooahs fighting the islamafascists over in the sandbox, and Airborne are just the type of individuals to bring that fight to people who are still fighting the Crusades which ended Centuries ago.  Oh there I go again being an a##hole again saying the non PC things, but Hey that's who I am Thank You very Much Service With a Smile.

I'm Surprised Panama's still sea level, after all the Push Ups I did down there.
