She already pressed charges against him while she was there, and had a restraining order placed on him (which he violated this morning by calling her). I talked to her mom an hour ago, and she is going to make sure she does not let her go soft on this.

Those are the psychological aspect, of course, which is the MAIN issue in a batterer's mind. It isn't about proving physical prowess or power; it's about exerting one's dominance over another psychologically. Know how many years of therapy that took?

It's a good thing that her mother is supporting her, but pressuring her into doing will more than likely have an adverse effect. Supporting her will go much further, which she seems to be doing.

Think this will be very differant as there wasn't a solid relationship to go bad in the first place... he showed his cards right from the start of the game... which is good. Imagine if this aspect of the scumbag's personality was surpressed until a year from now.

I'd have to agree, Steve, but a batterer is a batterer and they all play the mind game card. At least she wasn't significantly attached to him, so she'll hopefully not be too subjected to the guilt trip scenario.
