I unfortunately only rigged from Nov 89 to end of July 90 (then we fired up for Desert Shield, after it I was walking wounded and worked in the shed handing out materials for the remainder of my enlistment (couple months)). I honestly do not know to this day how many parachutes I packed, would be interesting to know but Im happy in the fact that none of them failed.

Oh... Ted. BOTH main and reserve have a repack cycle. As I recall, the reserves could sit longer than a main but as I stated.. I dont think we ever did any repacks on mains based on cycle. In fact, we packed EVERY AVAILABLE PARACHUTE we had the day of the Panama invasion when they told us to KEEP PACKING and we slept in the shed. I think it was the ONLY time I ever saw the bins empty and had zilch to pack.

5000 chutes in one year is impressive.  I remember in the light pack shed at Bragg there was a "5000 club' plaque on the wall.  A lot of riggers back when I was there (1988-1992) never got their name up there.  I knew a lot of people, including my husband, that jumped my chute....they all said it was the best (or for a male) the worst opening shock.....thanks to my great air channel when I packed.  AIRBORNE!!!!

LOL. You put in the "good" air channel only for those VIP packs... otherwise you leave that slop and allow some joe to have a family one day.

...and you couldn't be blamed for the rocket scientest that routed his static line under his riser on hook-up and ended up being towed (fortunately behind a CASA 212 and everthing worked out OK) at the Change of Command jump for our favorite blond company commander as she was talking about all the safe jumps that had occured. All in all a great team down there.

Boy do I remember that jump. I still have the article from the Fayetteville newspaper that ran about it the next day. And to make it worse, the cherry ass DZSO that day (your's truly on his first solo DZSO) about wet himself when he saw a body dragging behind the AC and all of the sudden every radio I had started screaming at once. Fun times, fun times.
