| Hi Agonyea! In the french foreign legion while I was serving we never used canopy lights when doing night jumps, we had scouts out, marking on the ground for us, so we knew where to go at night, old system but it used to work.

Legionaire, canopy lights is kind of a running joke in the US Airborne. No such thing exists of course but brand new paratroopers new to their unit would often be sent down to the supply room to get 'canopy lights' or other non-existent items (like the blank-adapter for the Dragon, the keys to Area-J, etc) just so everyone can laugh at them... All in good fun of course

haha I will remember that one, we never did jokes like this, but we often told the young and new paras, that if they do a night jump and have no bergen or gear with them, they could use some stones and drop one now and then to find out how close they were to the ground,to find out when to get into to landing position.

| cherokee! Hi well not exactly rocks just some stones in your pocket, to listen to the nois they make when hitting the ground before you do yourself, when you jump with gear it has a rope to hang in when you pull the handle. Jumping without gear at night is not funny, you feel the ground but you do not see it coming towards you.
