Nice!

| Sad to see her go but I still like the 130 best of all! But when you do all of your qualifying jumps from a C-119 anything looks better! Ertman, doing the Richmond (VA) Highland Games / Celtic Festival this weekend. I take up a Guinness to you and all the guys!

Two or three of my qualifying jumps were actually C-141 jumps. I only remember getting one C-141 jump after that. I actually prefered the C-130.

| Sweet video!!!! I'll miss the ol' Whistle Pig. I crewed her for nine years and went everywhere man!! I did an around the world trip in her in 1989......circumnavigated the globe in 10 days!!! Charleston, SC-Norfolk NAS, VA-Rota NAS, Spain-Sigonnella NAS, Sicily-Baharain IAP, Bahrain-Diego Garcia-Clark AB, Phillipines-Guam-Hawaii-Travis AB, Ca-Charleston AB!!! I was drug up on stage at the "Nipa Hut" in the PI (Men only story there!!!! Sorry ladies). Great memories in the ol' Pig!!! The thing I miss the most is shittin' out 150 (yep 150) young papratroopers at O' Dark thirty running north to south on Sicily DZ and doing it in less than 60 seconds!!!! At 1:18 into the video (stop it if you don't see it....) You'll see the Oscar Meyer Weiner Mobile being loaded onto the C-141B. The loadmaster shown is TSgt Allen Bridges of the 701st Airlift Squadron, Loadsmaster Section, my unit. Al and I were airdrop partners quite a bit. The place was the Cleveland Airshow back around 1993-94 timeframe, my memory is fuzzy. Namely due to the amount of alcohol consumed that weekend! I was on that airshow with him, and I was the one who took that photograph!!!!! That photo and others came from here: http://www.c141heaven.com/ Bill Hamilton and I even did a Dash-9 supplement and slipped into our pubs book!! Read that here: http://www.c141heaven.com/tall_tales/oscar_meyer.html The photos in the supplement are mine also!!

| Hey Mortarman, I am going to date myself: I never had the pleasure of jumping that bird. It was only in test stages when I ETS'd. I love looking at the pictures though. In my day, we jumped C-119's (Benning), C-130's, C-124's, C-123's, an army version of the C-123 (I fogot the name), and Huey's. My favorite was going out the a$$ end of the c-130 following the 105's and 3/4 ton trucks. To this day, I still hate to LAND in an aircraft. It always brings back the memories of scrubbed jumps (No thrills, No glory...just the unrelieved nausia sensation). Ted
All the way, sir!!!

Ted (10/26/2006) C-123's, an army version of the C-123 (I fogot the name),Ted, are you talking about the C-7 Caribou? While it was also a two engine transport than the C-123 it was a completely different(and smaller) airplane used primarily by the Army. It had such a limited payload and operating range that the AF didn't have a need for it.
