| Today my SL walked in and called me up and told me that the reclass options that I have available right now are 19D, 63A, 67R. And if I do it while still deployed here in Iraq, I may be able to get some cash outta the whole thing. Now, I know that 19D are Cav Scouts, and that is ALL I know about them. What does this MOS do that is any different than the 11B stint that I just about done doing with the 1/506th? Truth be told, I am ready for something more shamtastic than Air Assault infantry, what does 19D entail as far as the suck factor and be honest. As far as the other two MOSs, I will have to look something up on them cause I dont know what they are. However, I got the feeling that 19D is something that I would be more interested on since im all high sped and stuff. Thanx for your time

You want high speed it starts with the 1-507th at Ft. Benning. It then goes to a unit on status, either straight Airborne(82nd, 173rd, etc.) or the 75th Ranger Regiment. I don't think the 75th has 19D, but there are now a lot of 19D slots in the Airborne. I also don't know if you have the possibility of getting both though.

Hazard, barry's right life doesn't revolve around those Air Assault wings like you've been brainwashed to believe get yourself some Jump Wings then some Doors will open up for you Army CareeerWise believe me you.. 19D's are on status too so don't worry there; heck when I was at JRTC in 90' we had 19D's and they were on status so you could go that route, think about it join the JRTC Brotherhood as a 19D and be on Jump Status to boot.
I'm Surprised Panama's still sea level, after all the Push Ups I did down there.

Eyes, I can assure you that Airborne Cav is different. Ask anyone that went through JRTC while the two line companies of the 1-509th were deployed. Delta Troop and HHC did the heavy lifting and made sure the units going through were properly trained.

| Eyes, bro sorry to hear that your experience with the leg 19D's sucked the BIG ONE bro it's too bad that you never spent any time down at JRTC with the 19D's there; at least we had a F'ing BLAST with with our Bn the 1/509th back then in 90' made up of I'd say 1/2 11B and the other 1/2 19D mostly while the rest were Medics, Engineers, and other Support MOSes who knows what the composition of the Bn is today OPSEC and all I know. One thing is for certain bro in the SCOUT PLT which I was in we were also 1/2 Infantry/Cav Scouts and I was an 11B in an 19D slot so I guess I picked up that secondary MOS whatever that means. One thing for certain bro we never had any kind of incident like you described there of those legs with my brother Cav Scouts, Heck if you look it up the 1SGT of Bravo Troop when I was there is now CSM Gainey of the Pentagon now. Cav Scouts aren't all bad Eyes only the leg ones you encountered were remember that bro. Airborne.

I have to chime in that the 19D's I worked with in 2nd ACR during Desert Storm were technically and tactically proficient... they were highly motivated and capable. It really depends upon the unit leadership... just like every other organization.
