Alright so here's the situation. I have my Dutch wings and will probably be getting my Canadian wings within the next few weeks (already done the course, just missing my qualifying night jump with equipment). Does anyone know if the following is possible: If I were to show up at a jump centre in the States, Benning or any others (?), with my jump certificate and parachute log book, would I be able to join the  manifest to earn US wings? We had some US jumpers on our manifest this summer, showed up the day before Jump stage and jumped with us, got their Canadian wings. Please let me know! Thanks jumpers!

Not at the Basic Airborne Course, because................... You gotta hace them orders you know the Hazardous duty orders issued from your DOD unit Army, Airforce, Marine, Navy saying you are on Jump status already.

Kinda like having your driving license...............Only works from one state to state, then you go international..........then if the recieving unit is willing to risk putting you out the door.

We used to get em all of the time from EVERYPLACE on Earth but the bottom line is you gotta have them orders.

I don't mean to pop your bubble BUT you really should try to spend some time in the AIRBORNE rather be a Jump wing collector. IF you do then the Exchange of wings ceromony will mean more to than some college sorority type drunk fest.

We do look at it alot more meaningfull than just everybody showing up and exchanging wings, otherise you could just go to the PX and buy a bunch of Parachute wings and say .........BEEN THERE DONE THAT!

Any other DZ I could do. Or is it a no accross the board?

I've heard of guys showing up unannounced and being thrown onto a few sticks and qualify for their wings. Thanks for your help!

Don't see how it's rude, but complied as you wished.

Thanks for the info on orders and all that stuff.

I'm not a jump wing collector, only cause I have 2 course and wish for a 3rd doesn't make me a collector, I see it as wanting a range of different trg in the same field. I don't care for the wings, I just want to jump. (No civvie shit, so please don't even suggest it) And suggesting to go to the PX, and simply 'buying' qualification is a big insult. I understand some idiots do it, but that's not my ball game mate.

There is a program at Ft. Benning for fellows like you. All you have to do is go to Benning, to get on post you will have to show them your Dutch wings once you show the guard your wings he will welcome you onto post and direct you to the correct building. Once there aproach the first SGT Airborne you see and produce your Dutch wings so you can sign up to do a fun jump with the Airborne school then wala you will have your AMERICAN jump wings. That easy! Please let us know how it goes for you!

I can not speak for how things operate at the 507th today. But when I was the XO there in the mid 90's you could not walk on to any course without permission.

My first recommendation would be to contact your laison officer at the infantry school. If you are currently on jump status and what ever version of hazardous duty pay is for your service it is possible to get permissive jumps with the 507th. But you would need permission from your country and clearance through the laison.

If you tried to walk in to any other airborne unit and they let you jump without clearing it with your country you would be putting the US Army at risk as well as breaking several regulations. I suspect that you would also be violating several regulations in your own service as well.

I tried reading the young mans profile, and I am still unsure of his exact status. As far as I can determine he is some type of a Cadet, not active duty.
Kid, you need to understand that while you may have been able to attend a foreign School, the United States Army operates quite differently and does not allow folks to just show up off the street to attend our Airborne School. You have to be on Orders from another countries military, and arranged with the United States Army. Jump exchanges do take place, we had many of them while I was in. They are not done on an individuals whim though.
