Ah, Grasshopper.....if you wish to do well on the ASVAB you must begin a strict regimen of special disciplines:

First you must enrich your mind by directly applying nutrients to your head. Rubbing yogurt in your hair is a good start.

Don't worry what others say to you as you travel your path to ASVAB enlightenment.

To hold in the nutrients and fight vitamin evaporation it would be beneficial to wear protective headgear made out of tinfoil. This also keeps all of your brain waves in and all of the mind probing alien beams out.

Furthermore you must find your true ASVAB name by drinking heavily for Pre-Prop-Blast and learning your name after spinning your body around wildly until you say it out loud. Many seem to have the same name of Uullrrrghh! Some are called Ralphhhh!

Next you must hone your ASVAB reflexes by riding your vehicle into the wind and catching flying insects in your teeth.

Another reflex exercise is to bob for the Tootsie-Roll in the toilet after pulling the handle. YOU MUST CATCH THE TOOTSIE-ROLL BEFORE IT DISAPPEARS! If there is no Tootsie-Roll in the bowl you can make your own.

If you practice these things diligently and deliberately you will do so well on the ASVAB that they will make you an Infantryman............a Marine Infantryman.

"Veritas Omnia Vincula Vincit"......."Send Me"......"Sua Sponte"

When life sucks....make it swallow!

"Modify the wedge! First squad! Bound!....."

Hey, have any of you been to the site AirborneRangers.com most of those guys are jerks and maybe its wrong for me to say this but everytime I asked a question they started cussing at me so I just want say thank you for giving me this fabulous information and not getting mad at me. If I do become a paratrooper and I live lets just say Fort Bragg, Noth Carolina do I ever get free time to do the things I like. By the way I like to play tennis and golf will I ever get to do those thing or will I be costantly jumping out of a plane or to simplify that question what is a typical day on post for a paratrooper.

Corky, Rangers can be a tough bunch.

If you joing the 82nd Airborne these days you will have some time for the things you like to do but not much.  Remember that our country is currently at war.  Along with the Rangers the 82nd has been at the tip of the spear of the GWOT.  After you put in at least a one 4-year enlistment in the 82nd you will be a man and a totally different person by the time you complete that first enlistment.  After that you can chose the army as a career or get out.

Go to that PNET link I gave you above.

Cork, What I am about to tell you is the truth and the real deal young man. When you choose to serve in our county’s military, it means that you are willing to lay down your life in order to keep people in this country and others free from terrorism and people who want none other than to see us wiped off the face of this planet. I don’t know if you can understand this, but I am hopeful you can.

I didn’t jump out of airplanes and helicopters to serve my country to fight our enemies and uphold the constitution. I chose to serve in the Navy. At times, it was very hard work, and other times I thought I had it made in the shade. Sometimes I had plenty of free time to myself to plan what I wanted to do with my life. Other times I was covered in grease and fuel that couldn’t even be washed off with 10 showers.

My job was to repair equipment on the flight deck of the largest ships the Navy. I supported aircraft missions flying and targeting the enemy in Desert Storm in the middle- east, and Bosnia in Europe. I considered myself lucky to be alive at times. However, the reason I am alive is that God has a plan for me.

My dad, no longer living, chose to serve with the 82nd Airborne back when we were fighting in Korea and Japan in the 1950’s. Later, the 82nd Airborne split into what is known today as the 101st and the 82nd Airborne. I am sure there are plenty of folks here that can give you more about this.

My dad volunteered to fight in Vietnam in 1967 and didn’t come back. He stepped on a land mine while serving in the jungle under very bad conditions. I was 8 years old when that happened. For a long time I didn’t see myself joining the military because I lost my father. Then I grew up. I wanted to join just like you. I joined in 1987 when I was 27. It took me that long to decide to join.

From there I spent almost 12 years sharpening my skills as a mechanic and saved enough money to go back to school and get my degree. The military will help you do this, even while you are in the military you can study to get your degree.

Your father is in the Army now, and he is the best school you can get in understanding what it is you want to do if you join. Just remember if or when you join, you will not like it at times. Stay in touch (write letters or e-mail) with your family when you are away from home. Take it one day at a time. And pay attention to what your leaders tell you. It could save your life one day!
