Welcome to our house young man. Honestly, while I encourage you to pursue becoming a Paratrooper I would suggest that you for now strive to be the best student you can be. Seriously, keep it your mind, stick around and learn from the wealth of knowledge here but also remember to be 15 as well. It is heartening to see someone your age show interest as well as the pride you have in your father.

| For starters Cork, concentrate on doing the best you can in school. Listen, learn, and most of all, pay attention. When you finally take the ASVAB, it will all come back to you. Get involved with sports and figure out what you do best. Finish high school with the best grades you can earn. Be proud of what you accomplish when you earn it. You may even want to work in the civilian world before joining the military. Your choice. Ask your dad questions about what he does. Enjoy living life as a teenager, you can never get that back when you get older. Last but not least, eat them peas on your dinner plate, they'll grow hair on your chest! I hated broccoli as a kid, but my dad made sure I ate every last bite. Good luck! SMSB

| Hey there Corky. I haven't been here long enough to be welcoming anybody to the sight, but I just wanted to give you a little advice along with the rest of these fine paratroopers. First off I'm 26, and I'm still struggling with work and getting my education. Education is KEY. It is essential for you to work hard and get the best grades you can in school. Sure you can get in at 17 and make the decision to become a career soldier....but you always have to factor in the possibility of getting injured or whatever the case may be. You're going to need that education to fall back on. Not everybody gets out of the military when they want to. Some get injured, some get into trouble, and some just can't hack (not that I'm saying you can't hack, cause I'm sure you can). All I'm saying is think about your future, while still being a kid, and I'm sure you'll make the right decision. "STRIKE HOLD"

| Great words Doc! Listen to this Corky, I am one of thoe who was unable to go the distance for a full 20 years. I managed 12 years, injuries caught up to me, and I have been struggling with trying to raise two kids, getting an education so that I can maybe live a little more comfortable lifestyle. etc.. The Army will be there, it will need you, but you need to consider what you will do when you get out as well. Education will help you in your career (if youd do enlist), and it will definately help you when you get out.
