First of all, she is not just speaking out against the war, but is using her son's death as a soapbox.  A mom, dad, sister, brother, husband or wife has the right to grieve their loved ones death.  They can be against the war.  However, she has gone too far and the fact that her family has written her off is an indication of that.  I am all for freedom of speech, but she has taken it to a new low.  The left has spun her mind to where it is no longer owned by her and she is speaking of things that Casey would not want her to speak of.  That is proven by the fact that he re-enlisted in a time of war and supported our efforts.  She needs to honor his memory, not use it for her own personal gain.

Mazzi,
We can judge her all we want. We can say she is disrespecting her son's service and sacrifice. We can say she's lost her freakin' mind from grief and is a "tool of the left". We can say all of those things. But we can't shut her up anymore than we can shut up Coulter, Franken, Limbaugh, Hannity, Coombs, O'Reilly, You, Me, and Dupree.

She can say whatever the hell she wants. Period. Our liking it has zero impact on that right.

I completely and totally disagree with that.  That is my opinion. People can disagree with the war, but the way she is doing it is not right.  period.  you can throw O'Reilly, Combs, etc into that mix but they are not using their dead heros as political gain.

But that argument speaks to a desire for a limited freedom of speech. I.e., as long as we like the message, say all you want. That's fine if that's what you want, but it's not what our country stands for, clearly, and it's not what Casey (in part) died to protect.

That's the point I'm trying to make here. Freedom of speech includes that which we detest. We let the KKK march in Skokie, IL., (that's speech), we let Black Panthers rally, Communists, Anti-war protests, etc. And so, like it or not, Cindy Sheehan gets her turn at the microphone.

Everybody pounces on Cindy Sheehan like she's some momster. That's not a typo. I don't care what anybody says -- she has a right to say whatever the hell she wants about it, period. If you don't like it -- tough crap. She's an American, and can say whatever the hell she wants about it.

She doesn't deserve to be demonized, especially by these a$$hole commentators who never lost anything due to war -- like O'Reilly and Hannity. These guys never strapped on the guns and did anything, so screw 'em. She lost her only son, if I'm correct, and can say whatever the hell she wants about it. We don't have to like it, we don't have to agree with her, but she can say exactly what she thinks, period. Anything less is completely un-American.

That's freedom of speech -- it's most important when we DON'T like the message.

Now there's that liberal double standard we've all come to respect.  Cindy Sheehan can say whatever she wants denigrating this Country but no one can call her on it.  O'Reilly has not demonized her(I don't listen to Hannity so I don't know what he has said).  He has taken her to task for her extreme statements about the Country and about the terrorists we are fighting(she called them freedom fighters and compared them to our Founding Fathers).  By her actions she has entered the political arena and she is just as open to criticism as anyone.  O'Reilly is a citizen of this Country and has as much right to criticize her as anyone else.  But because he didn't serve you would deny him his freedom of speech.

Does the same blood shed to enable that psychotic bitch to say whatever she wants not allow us the same courtesy?? That's what it sounds like you mean.

Men have fought and died to retain the freedom of speech for US as well. Regardless of what you say, she HAS used the death of an AMERICAN SOLDIER to propagandize the War on Terrorism and as a platform for her hatred. The fact that the AMERICAN SOLDIER she uses is her own flesh and blood is what makes the entire situation nauseating and, in my opinion, totally unacceptable.

To top this off, she's just purchased 5 acres in Crawford next to the President's residence. That's a bit permanent, don't you think?? He'll be out of office in 2 years, yet she's still harrassing him. Oh, she's not protesting the WOT at the White House then; She's stalking Bush.

She's psychotic and manic and deserves a severe beating.

We have freedom of speech but that speech can sometimes bring consequences.  If she's going to put herself out there with the extreme comments she is making she is going to get hammered.  It doesn't mean she can't say what she wants, but the reaction should be expected.

Jenn, let's not forget the fact that when she met Bush shortly after Casey passed on, she was singing a different tune.  Amazing what a year would do.
