How do you like the Aimpoint?

| It's too heavy when mounted forward of the carrying handle. Other than that, it's ok.

| JR, when I was in the sand box in 2004 you were one of the PNET hooahs that gave me moral support...now is my turn. Platoon daddy huh!? You will do fine Airborne! Always have good situational awareness with 360 security and good contingencies in place. Always keep the tangos guessing and have good violence of action if you get hit with good PID. Don't let your hooahs drift from the ROE, sometimes it is easy to do especially when one of your hooahs is hit. Won't say more here due to OPSEC but 'CALL' has plenty of OIF/OEF lessons learned on print. If they havent yet make sure your PL and junior NCOs read that stuff. OIF1 and OIF2 hooahs did not have a quarter of what is now in print, don't let it go to waste. Treat all CALL manuals as classified and burn anything that is not being used...including envelopes and boxes from home (mail). In other words your platoon or company should always have a burn barrel...when in doubt burn it. Never trust the Iraqis that are allowed in the FOBs. Treat them with respect/dignity but don't trust them. Keep in mind that many IEDs over there go off between 0500 and 0800 along the MSRs and ASRs, VBIEDs at any time of the day (many tangos like to set off IEDs around BMNT). Make sure your hooahs stay on top of their weapons. From time to time have then unload their mags to relieve pressure on the springs and to do some mag maintenance...is as important as cleaning their weapons. PMCS (PCCs and PCIs) on all gear, weapons, and vehicles will need to be a way of life over there. I always knew where I was with a Garmin Rino 120, not being lost ever kept joes alive over there. It was also a quick way to get a grid so that QRF or CASEVAC can find you (not to mention to 'call for fire' or an immediate CAS request). Turn off the feature that sends out your postion. Prayers shot, over. Godspeed. Give them hell. A...ATW!

I wish you and your troops safe steps in the zones. May you always have that moment to put your sights on the bad guy first.
