| Sorry it took so long to post, but do any you guys remember these old 1/509th ABCT Association cards. I have been carrying this one since my ETS in November 1980. Contact Barry Simpson if you want to join the current 1/509th Parachute Infantry Association and keep the unit cameraderie alive. Chip

I am a bit of a cherry here. Aco 1-509 ABN INF, May '98-Jan '02. I jumped into the Reunion at Bragg in 2000. Meeting the World War 2 Geronimoes was the greatest honor of my career.

| Hey Chip, yes, I still have my card that's just like yours. Mine says member for life, although I won't hold them to it. I sent in my dues. I'll see if I can post my card too. Pat

Hey Chip, yes, I still have my card that's just like yours. Mine says member for life, although I won't hold them to it. I sent in my dues. I'll see if I can post my card too. Pat Pat, just a note to clear things up. You will notice that the card you have says it is for a lifetime membership in the Airborne Association of the 509th ABCT. That was something the Battalion there did without any coordination or notice with the WWII guys. I am told that there was actually a 509th Association of some sort in Mainz for the Airborne/Mech battalions. That was before the the current Association was even formed. Our Association is the 509th Parachute Infantry Association and was started by one of the WWII veterans, Tom Dellaca, in the mid-seventies. It was not incorporated and subsequent IRS status was not obtained until the early- to mid-eighties. I wanted to give this explanation because there is continuing confusion regarding the Association that many of us paid our dues to in Europe.
