Pappy, haven't heard from VFT in awhile. Mike P from BDE signed in but haven't seen him on this board much. There are other 09ers here but I think most of them are from later eras than we.

Any 63-73 Animal Farm 09ers here sound off to Pappy and I.

I need to check with Combat Casuals seems I heard that he might be adding "The Animal Farm" as one of the choices for embroidering with the Gingerbread Man patch.

Good to hear from you again.

I remember Dodd and Anderson, don't recall the other names right off. Hope you can make the 2007 Reunion scheduled to be held in Reno.

Hey guys,

I just registered here. I was in CSC, 1st Bn 509th (ABCT) from 1973 through 1976. I remember it as one of the best times in my life. When I was there I joined as a lifetime member of the Airborne Association of the 509th A.B.C.T. Does anyone know if that organization is still active? Would like to hear from any "Bosco" people BTW I found this site started by some of the CSC folks.

Nice to meet you,

Welcome Tim! Please feel free to post an intro in the inprocessing forum so your intro does not get lost among this thread.  That way you can receive the proper welcome.

Tim, I was in B Company from 1978 to 1980 and I am the current treasurer for the 509th PIA.  I also purchased one of those life memberships in the Battalion store.  However, it was never really an active association beyond those serving in Vicenza.  Part of the reason is that you can't really build an association and do the necessary things by selling life memberships at $20.  This was something that I gather was started in Mainz as a way of raising funds for the Battalion store and unit events such as organization day.

If you want to join the PIA I can help you there.  There are a lot of vets from our era who are joining and getting involved.  At the reunion in New Orleans last year I met two guys who were in the Redeye section at the same time I was.  I also know several guys who were at Bosco, including Steely and the CSM who posted at the top of this page.

Good to have you around.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American GI.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.
